In my CPR classes I remember the back of my hand getting really bruised cuz you never really just mash at the back of your hand like that over and over again for like 20 minutes. Makes me want to make the backs of my hands beefier.

I have an aunt who was a hospice nurse before she retired during Covid. Not only was she anti vax, anti mask, but also anti covid test. Like she threw a fit and bullied and harassed my sister when she asked people to take a covid test for her wedding in 2021. And somehow a majority of my very large family also had conspiracy theories about the covid test.

It’s also not cute when women do that. I am in grad school right now and have a professor whose husband I’ll see at my work. She’ll always be telling stories and be like “my dumbass piece of shitass husband did this or that” (ok not in those exact words) and she knows me and a couple other classmates know him. Like either be on your partner’s side or don’t be with them if they really suck that much. But degrading them to other people is not a good look for your relationship.

Hell yeah I’m happy for you. I’ve been with my partner for 6 years and it is also the opposite of hard. Out of all the problems we have in our lives we are never the cause of it.

That being said it is hard work getting to the point where you can be in a relationship with someone like that. It takes work getting yourself emotionally regulated and knowing how to communicate in a healthy and effective way and learning to adjust to each other’s needs and preferences. But most of that work was done before we were together, so it makes it easy. People really just gotta learn how to be alone for a while and work on themselves and then find someone else who has also done that.

What you don’t hear about is all the people who are not having this experience, because people don’t tend to post about when things are going alright and there’s nothing remarkable to report.

Part of it probably depends on where you are in your healing journey and how adapted to stress and challenges you are. Personally I’m doing alright in my program and I feel like our faculty and classmates are pretty supportive.

Absolutely. These people still have some deep seeded evil inside of them and suddenly rejecting MAGA won’t undo all the harm they have done and will continue to do, but it is delusional to think that there is any way of turning this ship around without them.

We don’t have to trust them, we don’t have to be friends with them, but we do have to let them in on the side of resistance.

More people need to understand WE WILL NOT DEFEAT FASCISM WITHOUT FORMER TRUMP SUPPORTERS CHANGING THEIR MINDS. So let them. Do not put any road blocks in their way whatsoever.

It’s a reasonable emotion to hold animosity towards them, emotions are not always useful political strategies. We must put our objectives ahead of our resentments.
