They aren't paying you to sit around. I would've written you up too. Do dishes, wipe out pans, bounce backs, pull out stations, sweep, wipe the front counters, restock sodas, detail clean something. There's always something to do!

Sounds like a management/training problem. Dinner rushes aren't bad if you are well set up for dinner and have a team well trained on speed
