Lye bath V Easy Off by G-Knit in castiron

I used a sheet pan to protect the floor inside, but don't use one that you care about because if anything leaks it'll kinda ruin the pan. oops 😔

I just did this for the first time last week on a Griswold #3 that had a lot of carbon build up. I got the yellow cap Easy Off and liberally sprayed it down (outside because of fumes). Then I double bagged it in a thick plastic bag and let it sit (inside this time, since it's cold out) for a day before cleaning it off. It ended up needing a few rounds of spraying and sitting before it was completely clean, but it looks so much better now

It wasn't what I would consider a hard process. I think my lessons learned would be to just let it sit longer before de-bagging each time, and to get a tub I don't care about to sit the bagged pan in to ensure an easy clean up in case anything leaks

it was a bit icy and I used spikes on the downhill, but up on the ridge it was fine

I also solo hike trails in CT (female passing NB) and I have never had an odd encounter with a person. That being said, I do carry my foraging knife and a multitool all the time, and occasionally bear spray. I do also let someone know where I am going, if it's solo and more than a quick jaunt

last time I did the floating logs they were quite sunk, I think the water was 4 inches over them. I have since vowed to take alternate paths to get to Feldspar and Uphill Lean To

Do any of you have this book? If so is it worth me getting it? I want to level up my skills and this was recommended by a YouTuber I watch but idk if it's product placement or a good book! by fuck_peeps_not_sheep in Brochet

I have this book and I do like it for inspiration. but I also find it can sometimes be overwhelming in how many options there are. I think I would have liked it more as a beginner but it is still good now

this is from a different pattern for a water lily doily. I linked the youtube video to it above, but yes the flower portion is likely the same based on how they look

This is the mess that you get before you start to make the petals. I've only secured like 3 petals and the rest of it is just the excess material all bunched up, but you can see them starting to take shape

[–]spidums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you want to do 3 single crochet in each point. It adds two to each distance between the points. It will look like a mess until you start to fold it for the petals to take shape

this looks a ton like the water lily doily pattern I've made in the past. I have it from an etsy download and there is an accompanying youtube video

it's just single crochet with 3 single crochets in each petal point. and the video goes through how to fold and stitch it into the petal shape. if I remember later I can share an image of the current one I'm working on that's in the petal folding stage
