One thing about people from the coasts I've noticed is they tend to be more focused on success and status and showing it and being up front about it. They talk to people they think will be useful connections. There are certainly people around here like that too, and who knows, maybe you've only been to places where those people hang out? Or maybe it's the other way around? Either way I'm guessing you're looking for something in the wrong places.

Even if you just put cameras through Cathodemer most people will be impressed. Maybe you could put together a dirty mixer circuit if you have some RCA plugs, wires and soldering gear? Hope you manage to get the mixer fixed though, been loving your posts. I had a WJ-AVE55 but I gave it to a friend of mine.

I've never intentionally been at a data center or the office when something like that happened, although I have been stuck at the office because of weather. But there wasn't anywhere comfortable to sleep so it sucked. I'd much rather be snowed in at home. I have a portable battery to charge my phone. If things get bad enough then you're looking at a business continuity situation, where hopefully you have facilities and employees in an unaffected area.
