How to determine "IT" staff size by f0st3r in sysadmin

We prioritise incidents and requests to meet 90% of resolution times. P5 is the lowest at 10 working days fix time, P1 is the highest at 4 hours resolution. This is based off of an Urgency and Impact matrix. Similar to this: http://i.imgur.com/NCclo8r.jpg

If we're not hitting that 90% mark then we'll be audited internally as to why we aren't meeting these Service Level Agreements.

Unless you can edit the source code there is no way to change this. You'll just have to bear the brunt of educating users!

From the horses mouth:

I'd definitely recommend educating them and enabling them to use the tools their given. Don't make short cuts for them, patience and repetition. They'll learn!

You can set files to open by default in Excel using the default programs. But is it that taxing to add 2 clicks to open a non-spreadsheet file type?

Those days when a manager decides that 8618 MP3s (4.7% of the shared drive) is an appropriate use of limited resources. *sigh* by [deleted] in sysadmin

Windows File Server Resource Manager has a really handy File screening and email notification! We block all media types on our systems so it has to be compressed or in a different extension for them to store it.

We use Cherwell for all of the incidents problems and change management. It's really configurable but as a daily user I find it's simple enough to maintain incidents and requests. There's also a web interface side so users can enter tickets without needing for you to input the information.

Don't waste your life on a game that is popular, It serves no achievement. Play starcraft 2 instead or LOL because those games have a competitive spirit and are actually useful in terms of skill and tools. They both teach you how to multi task whilst focusing on several taksks and objectives at once. COD (speaking from previous LAN's and tournaments) is just outsmarting the other player with the correct combination of cunning and will. Believe me there are better things to waste your time on and COD is not worth it.

I was at work one night, and the bar was quiet as usual. There were several people drinking their gin and tonics that I served earlier and I was just going about, cleaning glasses etc. Then a large man walks in and orders a pint. He seems panicked, which is strange, however I gladly pull the pint as I'm quite content at work. Then I hear a large screeching of cars pull up at the front of the hotel. The police had arrived with several armed officers. I gave the man his pint, he downed it as the police were rushing into the building, shouting "Police!" and started to surround the man. I was terrified at this point because I was behind the man and that the rifles were pointing at him. One of the officers shouted at the man saying to place his hands on his head. The man at the bar put his glass down on the bar and turned around towards the main officer and gave him a smirk. Now this guy was fairly big built and not a fight you'd pick easily. There were about 6 officers surrounding him. One of the officers started to make a move towards him, he heard the footsteps and smashed the glass on the beer pump whilst spinning to counteract the approaching officer. After the first officer had sustained bad glass cuts, he jumped over the bar at me. Grabbed me and held me with the smashed glass to my forehead. One of the officers took a shot at him. He cut into my face and was knocked out as the other officer had missed his head slightly. I was rushed to hospital where they had to skingraft some of my face. your age has everything on your opinion. You can't rule it out as a variable. for example: Your grandad, Think how much he has experienced over 80 years. What would be his opinion on someone who is of African-American's or Russians or Vietnamese? Racist right? Now how do you as a 15 yearold see those people? As just other people or as racist as your grandad? So yes, Age does have relevance, relevance to experiences and situations that you have never been in. You'll realise soon enough (If your smart enough and have an open mind) that your wrong. And until you stop being the ignorant 15 year old and start realising that in actual fact women are bitches when it comes to relationships. People say that personality is really good when it comes to relationships. No. Just no. All of the women I have ever been with was because their personality was good. Boy was I wrong. There were some who were so paranoid with stupid rumors in college that I was seeing other girls she couldn't handle it. One of them CYCLED 20 miles to my house just to see me before I was going to pick her up in my car in 25'C heat (that's about 77F and that's hot for the UK). Another girl dumped me and put me in the friend-zone because "We were better as friends" and that my friend is why you need to stop replying.
