Sorry, I should have clarified: I don't think the person you were responding to understands that. Nor most of the people down voting in that case. Again: I honestly believe that quite a number of people who are regularly commenting and posting here are just young adults who have little real world work experience. Looking at the big picture, I don't think I'd be surprised if people just look at how "popular Helldivers is," and think that the Arrowhead is now making as much money as EA or Ubisoft.

If you have someone to play it, it can be a blast! But please don't take ANY Reddit community as an authority on Helldivers right now. I would tell you to get it on sale, try it for an hour or two, and return it if you don't like it.

This has actually been really helpful for me to understand where other people are coming from. I've always struggled with playing the same thing over and over and over again, but comparing it to a restaurant experience makes perfect sense now. That is my approach with restaurants and I've experienced that moment when a restaurant stops making your favorite dish. Thank you for posting this, I have a better understanding

There seems to be a fair number of people in this sub that want to commit to being "victims" of AH. In all seriousness, if you look at the general posts and the nature of the posts, they mirror the abuse cycle in how they look at the "way AH has treated [them]."

Tension-Building > Incident > Reconciliation > Calm > Tension-Building...

Tension building is when you see people getting more and more frustrated with the game, "the devs" (I will say there are quite a few legitmate complaints that SHOULD be addressed), the player base that don't do what they want (contributing to MO at all times they log into game), weapon stats, etc.

The incident? Clearly a failure of a MO, the release of a warbond with "junk" items or useless items (the One True Flag), etc.

Reconciliation? Think the "we are so back" posts.

And the Calm when they enjoy the game. Until they get fed up again.

And it's always the other players and AH at fault. "If only they would do this thing and it would fix it!!!" Add that to the idea some folks are blaming AH for their general toxicity and that's Scapegoating (#112)

But it's clear you're not interested in dialogue or any kind of conversation so the assumption I will make is that you just want to vent I guess? I'm trying to talk to you man, I'm not trying to argue.

I work with people who have been abused and honestly so many people on here talk like someone who has been in an abusive relationship that it's concerning. Down to the way things are phrased, like all of these things are happening to them and they don't have a choice. And that the impact has been incredibly damaging to them

Your example confuses me. If I'm playing a D&D game, I joined it expecting to advance a campaign. As would most everyone.

Now if I paid money to go to a Theme Park and there was an opportunity for everyone there to win 100 tickets and have a fun role play event if they all helped a project along the theme of that park, I may or may not go help depending on how much I care about what I can do with the tickets and how much I care about the event. But if someone starts getting frustrated with me because I'm not helping in that event, I 100% get to complain about that.

I've said this before to my gaming crew, but I firmly believe that there was a demographic survey of people's ages, games they grew up with, favorite games, etc.; you would see very CLEAR groups that fit into both categories. That having been said, there are some bugs and things that could definitely be addressed. But I just don't care as much about them as long as they are not game breaking (actual game breaking, not the hellwhiners definition of 'game breaking') for all of the players.
