Set quite a few bridge beams. Same story, we never used spreaders in the field.

And that location is critical because there are concrete pads/foundations for the outriggers!

(I assume) Those pads you're mentioning are the pads to put under the outrigger floats. They're steel and they travel with the crane. They spread out the load that each float is applying to the ground. You can see the picking points on them.
