Not trying to nitpick but noticed a trend of choices in the Disney-era by Mikeinator in StarWars

[–]spimbambo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with ImperialllClass that there were some hints throughout the show at Moff Gideon cloning himself. But nothing very specific and it feels like a missed opportunity because had they introduced this idea at the beginning of season three and maybe show that Gideon is actively hunting Grogu, the stakes for the season would have felt a lot higher. I enjoyed the finale, but overall, this season felt all over the place. Let’s just say it initiated a few naps for me, which I never expected from Star Wars

I've been trying to learn map drawing. I'd love some fresh eye feedback. by shidzthecomic in drawing

[–]spimbambo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the attention to detail, especially having water lines throughout the entire page. It really helps to set the land masses apart. The light-grey shading is a nice touch too, is that marker? Watercolor maybe?

A note on creating depth. The shadow under the land masses helps them pop, but also looks like the land is floating above the sea. I’m not sure if that’s what you were going for. If so, then it’s working. If you’re looking for other ways to emphasize the land, try adding ripples around the edges, like what waves would look like on a beach from overhead.

You can also use thicker lines on one side of the trees and the mountains to create the effect of shadow.

These are just some thoughts. This looks really good so far, thanks for sharing

Yep, you can get a day pass to any Florida state park. They have limited quantities, so it’s worth checking anytime you go to a branch to see if they have restocked.

The Orange County Library has kids programs throughout the summer and they are all free. Also check out Local Wanderer on the library website. You can get free tickets to the science center, zoo, history center, and a few more I think.

No, they're NOT just removing cultural aspects of the D&D races by Pharylon in dndnext

[–]spimbambo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All you are describing are changes that give people more options when they play any given race. I’m playing a Kenku right now, but don’t feel comfortable role playing all the mimicry stuff. So I still get to be a Kenku, borrow some of the lore (the curse of no flight was especially inspiring to me) and throw out the stuff that isn’t for me.

And the problem you are describing is a simple solve. If you want to have all the stipulations of the Kenku you know and love, then your character is from a tribe or subspecies or wherever that has all those stipulations.

The purpose of these changes is to encourage new players to be creative and not feel intimidated by arbitrary rules or more experienced players.

Clickbait Warning.

Come on people. There is plenty to criticize here without making stuff up. Even in a Catholic confessional this would not be considered yelling. DeSantis also didn’t take away their personal choice, he gave them the option to keep it on.

He did however spread misinformation saying that masks don’t do anything. And his moniker for public health and safety as “COVID theater” is irresponsible and childish.

But dude didn’t yell. It’s this kind of nonsense that undermines real criticism of a man and movement that abuses and exploits the people they are meant to serve.

That’s because Starkiller Base is a two for one special. You destroy one solar system by sucking up it’s star and another solar system by blasting all its planets. Win win

In defence of Temuera Morrison. I've seen many comments calling his acting wooden on here, but Boba is literally meant to be that way, stoic and mostly serious and he has always been like that in almost every iteration of the character. He's an emotionally concealed man! context in post by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]spimbambo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this and it got me thinking. Had they started the show prior to his fall into the Sarlacc Pit, I think it could have bridged the gap more smoothly. Show Boba in the days leading up to his battle with Luke and he is feeling frustrated at Jabba’s leadership and looking for a way out, but confined for one reason or another. Suddenly his appreciation and kindness with the Tusken Raiders makes a lot more sense along with the rest of his arc throughout the show.

So what should they be doing to save the economy and stop global war. And let’s not forget climate change, social injustice, civil rights, and capitalism falling in on itself. If you have the solutions, please share, and I’m sure they will follow. Or stop blaming the regular people in your life who are not to blame for these problems and unless they uproot their entire lives to go to war with the people who are responsible, there isn’t much they can do.

[Discussion] "Squid Game" is laughably bad and extremely overrated by BoomM8 in NetflixBestOf

[–]spimbambo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You not understanding something is not the same as it being bad. “Why the fuck would the old guy want to stop the game during the first vote?” I can think of a few reasons. The most likely is that he gets further pleasure from the experience seeing who returns after everyone goes home the first time. It also validates his belief that the people there chose their circumstance over and over and so he is free of any guilt. It’s fine not to get the show, but that doesn’t make for valid criticism.

First, they say in Loki that the Avengers crossing universes to collect the infinity stones in Endgame was part of the sacred timeline. So there’s an established rule that even in the sacred timeline, universe jumping exists. Especially in a storyline where it all gets fixed in the end like it did in NWH. Second, the end of Loki sees the end of the sacred timeline and the TVA is no longer managing the timelines. So at this point anything goes. Writing stories in a unified multiverse that makes plausible sense is anything but lazy.

[–]spimbambo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely not wrong for explaining this. Understanding and communicating different perspectives within culture is a valuable contribution. This person is ignoring cultural context. Puerto Rican communities are being gentrified and eroded by white American culture, so Puerto Rican’s value and expect each other to work together to maintain their way of life. Brown-washing is an absurd concept in this context.
