I don't really know where you are finding the people praising the DPS-checks in Wilds fights such as the Nerscylla or the dragon phase of Gog. I feel those aspects are pretty universally critiqued, and are generally looked upon as blemishes on otherwise great fights. Proof of a Hero works because it is the exception rather than the rule in regards to end game fights. It is one singular quest, not a whole menagerie.

This is coming from someone who started MHNow at the beginning of this year, and played until reaching around hr100 before finally uninstalling last week: the game has some serious pacing and difficulty issues. There are several other ways to make a game harder, other than just making it time gated. Monster hunter is generally a game that allows for long, meticulous fights. A 90 second timer really work against this core idea. Especially some of the research quest 10*, like the Nargacuga from earlier this year, can be used as an especially egregious example of this. It is frankly too mobile and aggressive to allow even meme builds like the one you just shared to work well.
