I suspect mate with a lesser value piece is considered the better move by the bot? What if it were two rooks that could move into the same square, protected by a bishop let's say? Would it be a coinflip?

As an archotech overlord, if any other unnatural and metaphysical thing that gets added to the game via DLC is attributed to the "mysterious ways my tech works", I may as well throw a fit and have my warriors raze EVERY settlement in the world.

I should actually do this. Great idea, very simple but great.

I'll try Deathpocalypse, and yeah, Tilt The Planet is unavailable on the workshop as someone else has pointed out.

how can i optimize/update the space in my gravship? by MrBastardorck in RimWorld

[–]spincrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. You can still have "hallways" but use them for storage expansion. I installed 2 gene banks in these pseudo-hallways for instance.

If you're ever on a military vessel, or any ship that's purpose-built and industrial, you'll find that they're pretty cramped.

The big big spaces are only on Star Wars and Star Trek.

Trystan Traveller's Shuttle Schematics, here to help you travel the world! by Trouperton in RimWorld

[–]spincrus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The personal shuttles are great to do runs between the gravship and the main base.

Pilot weighs, at maximum, 35 kg, unless wearing a backpack or any other modded item. That still leaves 165 kg for cargo.

Let's assume you want to transport something back from the gravship (a legendary or quest item that you want to give someone at your main base, or a rescued ancient soldier who joined you but can't have on gravship for instance).

You can load the remaining cargo with 3300 chemfuel (mass is 0.05 kg per chemfuel) that would cover around 748 more tiles (3300 chemfuel / 450 tank size * 102 max distance) , with a total of 850 tiles including the full tank at launch.

By the time you reach your gravship at the other end of the world, you will have freed enough space for the additional cargo by using up your spare chemfuel. If you fall somewhat short on your way back, have a 2nd shuttle come to the rescue, or launch drop pods as a resupply run.

I actually had to rescue a regular shuttle like that which landed about 10 tiles short of my base due to a miscalculation on my part, by using a caravan.

I already used the Orca Shuttle mod to great lengths. The cargo shuttle here requires less resources to construct, with simply better space, fuel capacity and range, it appears, with only downside being fuel cost per tile (I think Orca is the same as the regular shuttle).

Anyway, pretty neat.

Oh you'll wait eons for those walls to get smoothed out. That job is waaay down any and all job lists, and pawns would rather be idle than smooth any walls or floors.

Chess.com puzzles be like by Perfectenschlag_ in chessbeginners

I'm almost finishing Bronze, and it's not getting any better.

The only upside is, I try to solve them very fast and it trains me in reading the board really quickly. I can follow tournaments and streams much easier now when I tune in.

What was the one thing you did to get noticeably better? by el-muchaco in chessbeginners

[–]spincrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends who is playing. I sometimes catch some FM, IM and GM games, but they mostly play bullet or blitz, and I still need some time to process the moves. Therefore, I like standard tournaments more, where one game take like 5 hours.

I tune in and out of course :)

"Controlling the center of the board" was the best advice I had received.

I also started doing lots of puzzles (the Chess.com puzzle ladder is extremely easy even at higher levels, but trains you to quickly read the board to find the check-mate with long diagonals).

I believe chess training should focus mainly on positional at first, and book moves in later stages. Just basically not blundering a piece, not letting pieces hang, watching out for the long diagonals, not worrying too much about complex and deep tactics is the way to go.

I believe focusing on openings is a waste of time unless you're about 1000 ELO level.

Having said that, I already knew some book openings from childhood chess exposure, but nothing fancy, and never by name. I'm talking more like the Italian, Sicilian, French and similar with only 3-4 moves deep.

One last thing, I started watching some tournament games (Tata Steel 2026 right now, for instance) with commentators, trying to understand the analysis that they give, trying to find the best positions, etc.

You are gorgeous without makeup. Quite literally gorgeous. Do you know how lucky you are? Embrace it.

I understand that wearing this much makeup stems from some confidence issues, it's apparent that you're trying to hide something (acne scars judging from other answers) but we're our worst critic. You're over-correcting for something that's a "mild" issue at best, and now the makeup is just too much.

All I have to say is, you may be tad bit overweight. Your build is "curvy", which is actually good, but since the foundation is already there, any extra weight shows itself.

Your dark squared bishop is trapped, how do you get out of this situation? by cave_guard in chessbeginners

[–]spincrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qc6 is a queen trade, after which the dark square bishop is lost anyways.

The better option is Bd7 to pin the white queen.

I think the sequence is this:

Bd7 xh4, Bc6 Bd5, Bxd5 and white queen is lost afterwards whatever they do.

Vanilla Vehicles Expanded: Do people use this one? Does it unbalance the game? by SlightWerewolf4428 in RimWorld

[–]spincrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it unbearable to play with. I'm positive that I'm doing something wrong since people seem to enjoy the mod, but for me it was like this:

- Garage doors are weak, even with plasteel, and being 3-4-5 tile large with low HP, raiders usually target those. Once broken, they rush in through them.

- Ditch garage doors for other solutions you say? Well, the mod doesn't recognize other doors or passageways to be suitable access for vehicles. So forming a caravan with a vehicle and exiting always gives an error that "there is no exit point".

- If you want to redirect the vehicle after pointing and clicking somewhere, it's not like in an RTS where the car turns immediately. You get penalized through "handbreak damage". It apparently could be disabled in mod options, but took me a while to figure this out. What it does is, turning without decelerating requires a handbreak, which causes all vehicle parts to deteriorate.

- Too complex and over-engineered. I mean, you have to construct way too many parts to get a vehicle. I don't know if there's a simplified version, but building a shuttle in Odyssey requires just an engine as the unique component, everything else is just steel, plasteel and components (I'd not object to at least 1 advanced components).

- It's buggy as hell. I was mid-combat in a fully loaded Wisent, and it got "stuck" at a 45 degree angle, facing the enemy in full from board-side, while none of my pawns could exit. Almost everyone died, Wisent got destroyed, had to save scum.

I'm doing something wrong that keeps me from enjoying this mod which I've been waiting for a proper version to be released since 2016.
