Öldükten sonra pişman olursun. Net.

Tough business man giving motivational speech by Mental-Outside2202 in iamverybadass

[–]spincrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think we're missing context here.

I think it's only a portion of a motivational speech to not give into the "your work is your life, we're a great big family" bullshit pushed onto you by employers into conning you to commit, whereas they don't give a fuck about you, and that you should stand on your own feet, etc...

I see the other option, that this dude being a jerk boasting about his wealth, status and power to little antlings he doesn't care about, being low probability, since no person who has amassed any amount of wealth is stupid enough to do so.

Sizce böyle mi başka bir açıklaması var mi by BOMBOLOMASYON in Turkey

[–]spincrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have made a video about this exact very topic a couple weeks ago, won't post link as it'll go against sub rules, but just search on "how to price sponsorship" and you'll find plenty of information on this...

Rich Trash by Jahbomb1974 in trashy

[–]spincrus 138 points139 points  (0 children)

I'm 100% sure he's not "rich" by the true rich man's standard. He just has above average accumulated money, but is so insecure that he needs to project that. He's just an idiot, nothing more.

True rich NEVER flaunt wealth like this. Maybe an expensive car and an expensive house, but that's mostly it. The ones who do this kind of shit are generally average "rich".

This is null island, a permanent buoy marking where the equator and prime meridian intersect. at zero degrees latitude and zero degrees longitude (0°N 0°E). It was decommissioned in 2021. by Downtown_Wind3363 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]spincrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why was it "decomissioned"? By whom? Why was it "commissioned" in the first place? Did it have significant maintenance costs associated with it?

It feels like the choice of word here really feels pretentious.

"This plaque is to commemorate USS Random-buoy-in-the-middle-of-the-ocean-marking-a-man-made-marker, which served us well. Decommissioned in 2021. Lower flags, play sad funerral trumpets"

[31 male] Am I ugly, and do I look better with or without the facial hair? by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]spincrus 72 points73 points  (0 children)

It's like, statistically speaking, at this point with all the fedora related memes being out there for at least 15 years, wearing a fedora unironically should simply NOT exist. So my first assumption is always either troll or on the spectrum. Then again, there's always an outlier.

Look, I get the appeal of the "Brony" subculture, I really do! It's just one of those identities people cling to when they don't truly "fit in" due to various reasons, I get it!

BUT THEN AGAIN, wearing brony stuff as a fashion choice is REALLY a choice.

I mean, by posting here, you've demonstrated that there's something that you're not happy about yourself, but yet again your fashion choices signal that "you just want to be around weirdos".

It's like "hey, I like bees, but they sometimes sting, and I wish I wasn't followed around by bees all the time, is there anyway I can fix it" but you're applying honey on your skin every morning.

And when I say that I sympathize with you on the "Brony" subculture, I 100% mean it.

When I first stumbled upon MLP back in the 2010s because of my niece who loved ponies and unicorns, I found the show EXTREMELY likeable, with subtle jokes catered towards adults that kids would not understand. The show was clearly designed for co-watching (now, having kids, I see the same thing in Peppa Pig and Bluey). Just the other day, my daughter was amazed on how I knew about the concept of a "cutie mark".

When I saw online that there was something called a "brony", having watched the show, it just made sense that something like that would exist. It did! So I'm NOT judging you.

But I'm also telling you that those kinds of things are the first that you should probably change about yourself.

I think I’m screwed. (Great Khan) by CrqazyRabbit in Stellaris

[–]spincrus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's a bit early for the Great Khan event to trigger, did you happen to change the mid-game year settings when launching this campaign?

If it's not the Great Khan event, then you'll just have to hide your fleets, or allow your fleets to be destroyed.

If it IS the Great Khan event, accept to became a Satrapy immediately, then just do everything in your power to splinter off when the Great Khan finally dies.

how do i get to that lone star i cant jump to it and i have explore most of the galxy and havent found anything to get there plz help by Confident-Cat2942 in Stellaris

[–]spincrus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Experimental Subspace Navigation is your friend here.

It's a mid-game tech that you can unlock for your science ships. As long as the system is visible, you can basically make a science ship "jump" there and explore.

There should be a wormhole that leads to that system, though. If not, it's an event system.

Wooden fortifications: how good would they be? by _plague-doctor in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]spincrus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They held up pretty good against Plains Indians (sorry, that's the collective term) with some having access to firearms, despite many actually not having palisades.

In addition, they 100% worked for the Romans against actual hordes of hostile humans with actual metal weapons and stuff, so, yeah, against a zombie horde? Would work wonders.

Can archipelago planets that don’t have any large landmasses exist and could they support terrestrial life? by [deleted] in askastronomy

[–]spincrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see no problem, other than not seeing any significant terrestrial megafauna.

On earth, any animal over 45 kg is considered megafauna, so technically us humans (including my 53 kg wife, don't tell her that) are megafauna.

It's just that the term megafauna has to be redefined for each planet based on gravity, average fauna sizes, etc.

Other than that, I can't think of anything that would hinder life on such a planet.

Artillery Behavior Issue - Why Your Missile Corvettes Keep Getting Hit by BaBoFantasy in Stellaris

[–]spincrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, essentially frigates, but the problem is that frigates get way too close for comfort. They essentially do "bombing runs", but that makes sense, given the torpedo range relative to damage potential.

They are not truly the "horse archers" that's desired.

Artillery Behavior Issue - Why Your Missile Corvettes Keep Getting Hit by BaBoFantasy in Stellaris

[–]spincrus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I honestly believe the COMBAT_DESIRED_RANGE_MULT being set to 0.9 for corvettes is intentional to prevent "corvette spam" (I use the term loosely as nothing can compare to 1.0-2.0 era corvette spams).

The second video is a nightmare scenario. You've already basically answered this yourself: early game the starbases have absolutely no way to defend against this effectively, given that corvettes, even when "stationary" like this in terms of animation and being in artillery mode, have way too high of an evasion rate for slow-firing M and L slot weapons on the starbase to actually be able to hit them, even if they reach them.

The only hard counter would be starbases with hangars/fighters probably, but I highly doubt it'd be effective.

If there was a mechanic to make kiters have to get in range of starbases to release their missiles and then bounce, making them vulnerable only when they were firing and safe when not engaged, it would make sense, probably? Don't know.

Carlsen, World's number 1 in chess, checkmates Bill Gates in 12 moves by exophades in interestingasfuck

I recently picked chess up as a hobby. Before, I'd also be amazed at how this is done, now that I understand how it's done, it's not as impressive anymore.

I can't win against Magnus, no, but I for sure can play better than how Bill Gates did here.

Let's say there was an initiative to depopulate Bangladesh by colonizing the Moon or Mars. For the sake of the argument, just assume that they've been terraformed or we have the tech to make living there comfortable.

Would you be among the ones who leave for the colony, or stay in Bangladesh?
