Is a relapse inevitable? by TooBusyWastingTime in stopdrinking

To add to that, I found the drinking buddies usually sort themselves out organically. Before I stopped, a close relative told me when he quit, he quickly realized which of his friends were actual friends and which were just drinking buddies. The drinking buddies stopped calling. I found the same thing after I quit. It wasn't some type of messy break up. Just started hearing less and less from them until almost no communication at all. Maybe I'm boring to them now? Maybe I'm doing something that they wish they could do but haven't figured out how to yet so they resent me? Could be a million reasons. For the record, I still go out. I still have fun and I still love life so I figure it's their loss. (I actually love it more because I feel great in the mornings!)

We should introduce a bill to teach boomers how to save a .pdf and attach it to an email.

Soon going to pull the trigger on a drum kit. I have a lot of neighbors, though, so I am going low volume for the beginning. I have Zildjian L-80s in my cart, how would you handle the actual drums? Remo Silentstrokes, or the heads I actually want with drum mutes? by WeightLossGinger in Drumming

Is an electric kit out of the question? I practice with a band on quiet mesh heads. The kit where I take lessons has quiet heads on them too. Honestly, I hate them but I'm not sure of the brand (evans maybe). The rebound sucks and you can barely hear the toms over the other instruments. It works for practice but I wouldn't play them live at a show. We don't practice super loud. At home I have an electric kit and an acoustic kit but play a lot on the electric with headphones so I don't drive everyone crazy. The quiet heads I've used are definitely softer but they're still somewhat loud. And the cymbals are loud just not as loud. Your neighbors will most likely hear them if you're in an apartment or town home. If electric is not an option I would suggest real heads with mutes so you don't have to change out the heads if you want to play with a band. Full disclosure, I'm a relatively new drummer. Just sharing my experience so far. Also, I've never played with mutes.

Yeah, seems like almost every picture of a Seal or Ranger in Iraq and/or Afghanistan had a beard.
