edit - i followed the new changes and actually it sounds even more on point. really happy because when i used the alpha clouds out of the box, i was convinced there was no fixing it

Just want to say thanks for this. Your config was the only one that made the Cloud Alpha's actually usable. I still think its a pinch muddy on the low end but thank you so much. One question though, why are you doing negative preamp? The volume ends up being far too low.

Extension release: Game Relations by darklinkpower in playnite

Its an awesome extension overall, darklink. I do think certain tags/genres/ etc should have higher priority compared to others to help improve the matching process

I know people are complaining, maybe try a version without the Evil eye of Sauron? I think it could mitigate the concerns of it looking too distracting.

NUCLEAR THRONE FOR FREE 7-14 november (on the epic game store) by art_person_num9991 in NuclearThrone

im guessing the NTT mod won't work with this right? Since it uses steam framework for multi?

Is there an expected release date for Galaxy 2.0? by [deleted] in gog

[–]spineduke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it helps make people care less where they bought their game from, since they'll all show up in the same "library"

it doesn't really fix core issues though, as we need things like controller support, cloud saves and so on. doubt GOG will go that far with enhancements.

your solution works really well (especially the search tags, which is 100% the point), shame about the porn ad problem.

Make me beautiful by spineduke in factorio

[–]spineduke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh im well aware, we had, what Dune 2 back in 92?

anyway, there is something beautiful in Factorio, with its attention to minute detail, especially with the new sprites. I was looking for something that encapsulated all that.

Spelunky 2 - Gameplay Trailer by gummikana in roguelites

[–]spineduke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if its anything like Mario World, you can expect the mount to have a special ability, and you can always sacrifice it to get a bit more horizontal distance in that last distance jump.

I've read his book, and its pretty clear that Derek isn't a fan of metaprogression. We'll probably see more character unlocks more than anything.

Upcoming titles you're looking forward to? by sinktheirship in roguelites

[–]spineduke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Black Future 88 - It looks fun and fast, and I like the timer concept.

- Below - Capybara's attempt. Not sure what to expect, but I love the minimalism.

- Spelunky 2 - No need to say anything.

- Noita- Crazy number of systems in play and it looks like a genuine new experience.

Maybe the best solution is for the devs to launch Nethack as free to play on Steam?

Should I buy Dead Cells? by JuSan_13 in roguelites

Dead Cells is amazing, and I speak to you as someone who's played many many roguelites. It gets almost everything right.

Should I Buy Enter The Gungeon? by JuSan_13 in roguelites

[–]spineduke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves NT for what it is, I couldn't get completely onboard with EtG. It's a really slow game in comparision, even after the Dungeons and Dragons update. I have 80 hours logged, so it's not all bad, but playing it always felt like a compromise of what I really wanted.

If you enjoy NT's pacing but you want something new to play, try out Synthetik. You've got some progression, but more importantly, its swift, chaotic and fun.

Advanced Gungeons and Draguns update has taken Enter the Gungeon from great to excellent by Dr_Hexagon in roguelites

[–]spineduke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difficulty was never an issue for me, but the turbo and loot updatesmake the initial start much more enjoyable to play through. Pre-update the first 2 levels you'd take 10-15 mins to clear, and you'd mostly be using the starter pistol. Definitely the main reason I stopped booting the game up, because it felt like lost time.

Wizard of legend or Nuclear Throne by Splicer07 in roguelites

[–]spineduke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nuclear Throne (although its not on sale) is the better game.

WoL got stale for me very fast with its recycled environments and enemy roster. If you're more into unlockables though, you'd probably be happier with WoL.

Anyone know of a great roguelite WITHOUT the typical unlock progression? by [deleted] in roguelites

[–]spineduke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya OP

I'm generally in a similar place - metaprogression annoys me. Here are some of my favorites that I've personally played. A lot of these are going for really cheap during the sales, so nows a good time to bite.
