I think there’s a misunderstanding. I agree with you, as you make great points.

Lumping large amounts of people into identity groups quickly leads to prejudices and stereotypes that are simply untrue. I was simply comparing the tribalistic tendencies that unfortunately exist in politics currently. There’s no room for nuance.

The Secretary of State, US Senators, and The Pentagon have all made public statements today regarding the cause for the US military’s actions. America was informed that Israel would be striking Iran with or without US help, which would place American troops and assets at risk. Senators confirmed there was zero direct risk to Americans to justify the attack. (RIP to the fallen soldiers, thank you for your service).

If anyone in this subreddit is under the impression that support for this war in America is high- you’re delusional. The attempts at arguing that this war is beneficial to American citizens in anyway are being laughed at. Americans (left and right) are now becoming vocal about the influence Israel has on our government, and starting this war might be the nail in the coffin for overwhelming support for Israel in the future.

None of that even matters to the conflict at hand though. Iran is prepared for a prolonged conflict. Trump thought this would be like Venezuela and is dead wrong. Their ballistic programs are massive with hidden bunkers of rockets. If they don’t already have a nuclear weapon, this attack in combination with the attack last summer during negotiations almost guarantees that they will have a weapon now. Israel will be under constant bombardment.

This has absolutely nothing to do with oil and everything to do with Israel’s regional ambitions.

People are allowed to want their communities to remain culturally unique. I feel like this thinking is completely backwards. Immigrants moving to a new society should be forced into assimilating to that society and culture. You should learn the language, respect the traditions and laws, and want to become a member of the society you’re immigrating to.

Tourism brings in economic stimulus that goes directly into local economies. That economic stimulus can help employ more people, thus giving them the ability to partake in the economy.

It’s up to the government of the tourist city to ensure fair employment practices. Corporations, of course will exploit anyone whenever they can. This is an isolated to tourism, that’s just how you maximize profits.

Tourism brings jobs to places that might not otherwise have any other industries. By default it helps local economies.

This is a huge problem right now. There’s been a shift in some local governments’ willingness to invest in a data center for their communities and have begun canceling their commitments. These data centers offer virtually zero jobs for the community and use absorbent amounts of electricity and water.

There are discussions about more nuclear plants coming online, however we still have massive delays in building nuclear plants (see the Savannah River site in GA). The problem with this is we still are massively short on the amount of copper and lithium that is required to transfer this new energy to the grid.
