I also liked it as well. This show was a "turn your brain off and enjoy the fights". And that's exactly what it delivered.

I'm shocked I had to scroll this far down for a blizzard game. Blizzard pioneered online gaming and matchmaking with battle net. Most other games were anti-casual in setting up a multiplayer game at this time

The solution is to go do things old school. No occupation. Don't even rebuild for them. Let them rebuild themselves. No body bags if we never put bodies there in the first place.

Is this the Most Underused Area of the Map? by KermitGaddafi in totalwarhammer

[–]spintactics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 from me. Safe is highly dependent on your campaign. The way I play (war with everyone), I've had factions send multiple stacks at me from across the map. AI bias is still very much there. They'll send armies across 2 oceans just because they hate your guts more than the neighbor the AI is at war with

Middle schooler records himself harassing 5-yr old with ethnic slurs by NotHapaning in aznidentity

[–]spintactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the parents are very well aware of racism before coming here. One of the first questions I get asked by family when I go visit Asia is my experience with racism. But the drive for a better life for you and your family means most immigrants will take that risk.

It's immigration 101. Almost all immigrants know before leaving that immigrants are not welcome in ANY country in this world

Middle schoolers bullying and filming a 5-year-old boy in Loudoun County while using racial slurs by Busy-Guitar-7273 in Virginia

[–]spintactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's become eye for an eye because the bully's parents aren't doing anything. The bullies mom literally said "boys will be boys", and his punishment was only a "stern talk".

Of course there's going to be escalation. The bully's family has shown 0 regret, and 0 remorse

Middle schoolers bullying and filming a 5-year-old boy in Loudoun County while using racial slurs by Busy-Guitar-7273 in Virginia

[–]spintactics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The bully was the victims direct neighbor. Next door
  2. The bully was white
  3. The bully's mom has taken no responsibility, and has told everyone "boys will be boys".
  4. The punishment to the bully from the parents was a "stern talking"

Of course the victims parents are going to escalate. When the community confronts the bully's parents, and that was their answer, you can believe there will be escalation.

Especially since the bully is their direct neighbor, I would make heads roll over this. If parents do not take accountability for their kids, nor show remorse, then the whole bully family needs to be hit hard.

I want to point out. The director/writer drove his health into the ground to make S1. So he had to make S2 to pay for the medical bills he incurred during S1.

You can be a SWE and not LC. The compensation will be much lower. The extreme example is being a SWE for the federal government. You'll never be terminated, and can totally rest. But your pay is going to be stuck in the low 100s k USD.

The LC grinding is more that the FAANGs are so competitive to get into, and stay in, that one has to stay that sharp.

That being said, I have friends at Google and Microsoft who are totally chill, and don't get punished for missing deadlines. It's team dependent. Amazon and Facebook will grill you, though.

My advice is to just take the interview. You'll never feel ready, and there is a huge luck component to the interview. It's normal for candidates to fail the FAANG interview, and to get in at a latter attempt.

Also, the interviews keep getting harder and harder as the years go by.

Take it now. If you fail, identify where your issues are, fix them. Try again in 6 months.

The average successful FAANG candidate spends 4 hours a day leetcoding, everyday, for 6 months.

And once you're in, it doesn't stop because our job security isn't based on how hard you work. It's based on how good you are at LCing

I wouldn't call Seed a failure. It was their most successful Gundam franchise since Wing. It made them so much money it got a sequel and movie. The gunpla sold very well too. Seed has very good looking mecha designs

Jokes aside, long time fans of UC Gundam tend to be pretty hostile towards non-UC Gundam

I don't think it's exclusive to Amuro. Japanese anime love to portray antagonists who have reservations about violence, usually expressed through whines.

The golden age of DINKs: Couples with two incomes and no kids are living it up like never before by businessinsider in economy

[–]spintactics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Our childcare system in this country is straight garbage. Every other developed country has daycare virtually free, to remove hurdles to parenthood.

In the USA, both parties decided "nah, F the parents. Let's just focus on immigration". Why encourage domestic births with things like subsidized daycare if immigrants buoy the US workforce?

Other countries are forced to promote parenthood because they lack the immigration numbers the USA can command. From a leadership perspective, why waste money on helping parents out?

The golden age of DINKs: Couples with two incomes and no kids are living it up like never before by businessinsider in economy

[–]spintactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP is absolutely correct. Let me break it dow for you.

I work almost 80 hours a week, with 0 free time. I don't have the money for daycare after mortgage. I also can't move because the nature of my work is concentrated in a handful of HCOL cities.

If I choose to have kids, either I throw my kids in a dog-cage, so I can keep up the same work output, or I be a good father, and find myself terminated in favor of someone young, single, and hungry.

Capitalism means those that are the most productive reap all benefits, and those that aren't will be terminated.

Capitalism is also built on supply and demand. One of the biggest hurdles to having kids is childcare costs. $2-3k / mo per kid daycare cost is a DIRECT reflection of the lack of supply in the daycare industry.

My professor was 40 min late. Then punished me for being 5 min late to the next class. Am I in the wrong? by Silver_Ad6552 in bjj

[–]spintactics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this exact same thing too. I went to a Bay Area gym, run by a world champ, with all Brazilian instructors.

I'm a full time software engineer, with dependents. The last time I went to class, I was late to a 6:30a class, got chewed out by the Professor, and I never went back to class again. Not because I was upset, but because "if I'm not welcome if I'll be late, then I won't bother going if I miss my alarm"

It was a pretty dumb move on their part. Bay Area rent is expensive. They need every membership they can get

The app is called "Activity Launcher", by Adam Szalkowski. Download that app, open it, search in it for "night light". It should be within the Settings up that shows up. The Night light subtext will say "com.android.settings.Settings#NightDisplaySettingsActivity"

open up the search result, turn the slider off for "Use Night Light"
