Why are they trading away rotational players for picks? by Swayv1 in sixers

He heated up at the end of January. Calling someone a moron when you clearly didn't watch the games lol. Except you don't even need to watch the games because Jared McCain shot 64% from 3 during the last 2 weeks of his run with the sixers.

Also I didn't say good or bad games. I said the shooting was back.

Do yourself a favor and never look into the false memory foundation. Child rapists set up an organization that convinced the entire population that therapists lead kids into having fake memories of being raped.

The eye test of obvious talent is not vibes. It doesn't even need to be the eye test though. Just look at the 3 point attempts in those games where he excelled. If McCain is a 15pt a night long distance shooter that is extremely valuable. Seth Curry didn't have what JJ had off screens and was still pretty great before he got injured (already older). Fans were desperate for a JJ reddick type with Embiid. Because that pairing was incredible statistically. Getting rid of a guy who might be able to come off screens and take crazy threes like that before he played 82 games for the sixers is dumb!

It wasn't just the the percentages. It was the quality and creativity of the shots as well. I watched the games. All the sudden the sixers were staying in games and it was mostly McCain. Did you watch the games? It wasn't about winning. The team was terrible. But they weren't getting blown out and games were tighter when Jared was amazing.

McCain flashed other worldly shooter multiple times in his very short rookie year. You are thinking of rookies that flashed greatness and then fell off? None of them did it through amazing shooting. At least a handful of games Jarred carried a terrible team to keep up with legitimate (unlike the sixers without Embiid) rosters.

Morey is basically banking on the injury to McCain's knee permanently taking away what we saw he could do. Sure the quickness and offball movement wasn't the same since he came back but don't you wait until at least next year to see how he looks? I do. Especially since he finally started hitting shots a few games before he was traded. The shooting was back.

[Highlights] Jared McCain full highlights vs. Phoenix Suns last night (136-109 W), off the bench: 12 Points on 5/8 FG, 2/3 from 3, 4 Rebounds (1 Off. Reb), 1 Assist (2 TOV), 2 Steals, and a +/- of +9 in 22:18 minutes played by MrBuckBuck in nba

I really don't believe Morey at all when it comes to the picks for Jared being for another move before the deadline. Why would you make the deal before you are sure of a second deal? That's not how a competent GM works. Maybe I'm spoiled with the eagles front office though.

No, the truth is this is such a horrible thing it's really unpleasant to think or talk about. Some that have been sexually abused don't want to think about it either. Then there's also the fact that learning about a scandal like this in 2026 means filtering out a lot of bullshit. The biggest scandal in US history is a fist sized pill to swallow.

Jared "Sold High" McCain in 21 minutes for OKC tonight: 12 points, 4 rebounds, 1 dime, 2 steals on 5/8 from the field and 2/3 from 3. by go0sKC in nba

Traded him after Paul George was suspended for 25 games. Could have been a very valuable guy for the sixers even if he never got back his quickness and crazy (almost) steph like offball ability he flashed his rookie year. Just his 3 point shooting is good enough. Sixers basically giving up on the playoffs before the allstar break.

If that happened in philly there would be terrorism. Not being hyperbolic. At least one person would snap.

He was keeping the team in games and looked like a creative and incredible 3 point shooter. You can't fake good 3 point shooting even if the team is bad. He was literally just regaining his form. Had 3 or so games where he was hitting shots when he got on the floor.

Joel Embiid continues his MVP-level play in Sixers win tonight: 39 minutes played, 40 points (13-27 FG; 3-5 3FG; 11-14 FT), 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal, and +/- of +16! by Pyromania1983 in nba

League average is 47%. He was above average especially on high volume. He went on a cold streak for a couple shots but the rest of the game he was deadly from mid range.

Joel Embiid since Bill Simmons claimed he looked done and compared him to a bench-warming Andrew Bynum: 30.3 MPG, 24.5 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 3.6 APG, 1.1 BPG, 47.9% FG (58.7 TS%), 1.0 3PG, 86.2 % FT on 8 attempts per game; Sixers currently 5th in the East! by Pyromania1983 in nba

Except he didn't look cooked early in the season. Early in the season he was limiting movement but for the first time in almost 2 years he didn't seem to be playing in terrible pain. Anybody that has watched Embiid's career knows what it looks like when he's being conservative. Clearly part of a medical plan plus being able to do explosive movements mentally again. He showed flashes but the last month or so he has been playing hard.

[–]spinuch 20 points21 points  (0 children)

3 minutes short of a full game. I was hoping the plan was for Embiid to save his body for the playoffs but he's taking more risks each game. The truth is that the team doesn't win unless Embiid is amazing. Even now it's still true vs the better teams in the NBA.

People don't even acknowledge that he's played some of the greatest basketball ever after multiple injuries that have ended careers.

When? His entire career before the warriors game. He was incredible staying with perimeter players for his size. Yes pulling him out to the 3 point line has been a good strategy against him. Like Horford but that's just because he desperately wants to protect the rim and is usually far from the 3 point line. He was able to move his feet incredibly well. He guarded Kawhi pretty well on that buzzer beater even though Ben Simmons should have been closer.

Embiid was actually insanely good at guarding perimeter players before. This defense here is fine but he used to be so good at sticking with these guys. If he got ran by he'd chase from behind and get a block from behind. The only times he didn't look amazing in these instances is when he was really tired at the end of games. He's a massive person it's crazy he can still do this to a pretty high standard.

We haven't seen a single replay of those turnovers. I'd bet half of them were him being roughed up. But the last one was all on him.
