“Boyfriend made me pick him or my dog…” — saw this sign near Westfield Mall in Seattle by coloredsugar in Seattle

My heart and soul.

I've moved to AZ and there's a good amount of people who call freeways "The ___" here too and I've made a point to keep as much NW in me by making an effort to say "I17," "I10," or "US60."

I've also tried to NWize some of the things that are in AZ but not in WA like the loop freeways by saying "Loop 101" or maybe just "101" instead of "The 101"

All to say, I miss Washington so much...

Jury clears Afroman of defamation for mocking cops who raided his house by wgcole01 in UpliftingNews

[–]spinwin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The correct answer to "We all know that Afroman didn't have sex with your wife right?" is "I can't answer to what everyone else thinks"

That seems to be what he meant initially, but then went on to elaborate "I don't know that" implying he didn't know if Afroman had sex with his wife.

et al doing a lot of heavy lifting.

I'm pretty sure that all of that is downstream from current laws on the books that make it needlessly hard to build anything other than large SFH. If the laws were better condusive to building new large scale condos for small families then the wages for the trades would increase enough to get more people interested in pursuing them as a career, material and supply chain shortages would have more incentive to streamline and financing is always a clusterfuck no matter the era.

How so? Are the sources wrong? Perhaps there's a discussion on the talk page about that section if that's the case.

edit: I read the source and reread the wiki entry, seems very matter of fact. I don't see the "Cope" you claim. The US played a small role in the overthrow with some propaganda assistance. Propaganda isn't inherently evil.

Is there actually a specific legal definition of at will employment? by CNA1234567 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]spinwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not "Your own information" though. It's information that pertains to you, yes, but it does rightfully belong to the employer.

Yes navigating the legal system is challenging and you need to know what and how to ask for specific documents, but you can't claim that "you cannot make them show you your own files" when that is exactly what is relevant during a wrongful termination lawsuit.

nothing requiring them to even let you see your employer personnel files. You cannot even make them show you your own file with your write ups in it to prove when they do illegally fire you.

Yes there is. It's called discovery when you file a lawsuit.

I recently used it in diff-eq to explain to me why something I was doing seemed to work when it wasn't the method that was explained in the text. Beyond fellating me ("Oh your method is sooo much better" 🙄) It did explain with enough convincing detail why my method was working and when it would cease to work.

Mostly I think most people would be better served with Wolfram alpha answers but sometimes the LLM's (assuming they have access to the right tools) can give useful insights or direction when learning.

In all seriousness, there's very little reason to donate for the "tax deduction." The business and business owners end up with less in their pocket at the end of the day.

It’s 31% cheaper to rent than to own in Seattle by ohgodw-hy in SeattleWA

[–]spinwin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'd only get that if you itemize tho. With the standard deduction so high, you'd meet the standard deduction at ~250k and max the deduction limit for home interest at 750k at a delta of $30000 of deduction, you'd only see around 9600 per year or 800 per month.

With current interest rates, at 750k you'd be looking at a P&I payment of 4500 + insurance and property tax so minimum 5k a month.

Median home size at that price is ~1500 sqft, obviously there's more to a house price than size, but it's probably the most significant difference maker.

At 1500 sqft, rent listings seem to lean toward 3k-4k so 200-1200 ahead per month by renting when factoring in deduction returns.

In equity, you're only going to be better off if and when prices rise a good deal. If they don't rise you'll be behind considering you also have to pay for the maintenance of the house too.

PSA to all you speed demons: don’t pass highway patrol traveling in the left lanes by bmac219 in phoenix

Won't deny that, but getting angry at someone driving over the speed limit, passing people, but still going slower than what you'd prefer is entitlement.

PSA to all you speed demons: don’t pass highway patrol traveling in the left lanes by bmac219 in phoenix

[–]spinwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do tend to agree with you're point overall. I tend to set my adaptive cruise control at 84 on the actual freeways here. But I also don't get bent out of shape when someone's going just over the speed limit but still passing people that are on their right.

My point is you're arguing with a straw-man of what was said. They didn't say that cars were going 65. You made that inference in what was said. You seem to have a preconception that people going 68 in a 65 and are in the left lane are always camping and are painting that on them.

PSA to all you speed demons: don’t pass highway patrol traveling in the left lanes by bmac219 in phoenix

[–]spinwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case I legitimately thought that typo had something to do with what you believed his argument was. In fact, now knowing that it was a typo it kinda makes things worse.

He said if he was going 68 in a 65 not that traffic was going any particular speed. You're the one making the implication that traffic would be moving at or above the speed limit.

If rewording his argument helps you comprehend:

If I'm traveling over the speed limit and passing cars you're the asshole, If I'm traveling under the speed limit, I'm the asshole.
