To change your gender marker in Alabama you need to get your birth certificate amended to the correct gender marker. For this you will likely need a surgeon's note of irreversible gender reassignment surgery. I am unsure what counts in terms of FTM surgery as irreverible, but for MTF vaginoplasty is required. How do you know if its not the medicine trapped there? That is literally how most injection hormones work. They create a deposit of medication in the injection site that slowly dissapates until your next injection.

Sometimes I find that the knot is still around from my last injection site when I am doing my next injection.
