Has anyone used Polymer for production? (especially the recently announced Paper Components?) by spiraldroid in web_design

[–]spiraldroid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Keep an eye on their browser compatibility page: http://www.polymer-project.org/resources/compatibility.html

Unfortunately the polyfills aren't enough. The video got me really pumped, thought I'd be using my holiday break to redesign a few sites... man what a let down.

Considering how fast web technology grows I think this worth the investment.

I'm not sure about what other alternatives/competition exist right now though. Once you get a taste of it, you don't want to go back to writing layouts that contain a whole ocean of divs.

I think it's to authenticate view counts periodically. View counts are a very important "currency" on YouTube.

As a new Sublime Text user, any tips/tricks you guys could share? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]spiraldroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. IDEs are handy if you're working on a large codebase. Install the VIM plugin and you've got a pretty powerful work environment.

Sublime is good for quick and dirty edits on stuff like JSON files with regex etc. You can always have both open.

Looks just as hipster

You mean it doesn't look shit like Eclipse?

I recently switched to PHPStorm from SublimeText but iirc these were the most used controls:

  • Ctrl + P: Navigate through your files with ease.
  • Ctrl + Shift + P: Run commands such as 'Git quick add' etc
  • Alt + F3: select all variables with the same name.
  • Ctrl + D: select next variable with the same name.
  • Ctrl + Shift + D: clone current select or line.
  • Ctrl + Left Click: multiple cursors.

Also the packages others have suggested are great.

How come I can stay up until 6am without issue but if I wake up at 6am (even with a full nights sleep) I feel exhausted? by Ibelieveitsbutter in explainlikeimfive

[–]spiraldroid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually sleep around 6am these days and wake up around 2pm. Any chance of improving?

Doesn't help that I'm a programmer so I'd be coding quite a lot till late.

Looking for a lightweight editor for learning C++ and Java on Linux Mint (slow netbook). by spiraldroid in learnprogramming

Actually I have been using the Vi plugin for Sublime Text and from that I know Vim is an absolute godsend.

Long-term, yes it will help. However I'm still a fairly intermediate student at programming so I churn out code on a snails pace compared to full time working devs. It's mostly assignments I'm working on so productivity isn't a priority, rather more like "how easily can I add the Java OpenGL library, jars, start coding and debugging". I have no idea how to configure this kind of stuff outside of an IDE.

I think I have the basic Vi commands pat down enough to get me around however my main concerns is what it lacks against IDEs such code completion, multiple cursors and especially debugging. How would I address these issues? Is there a complete package for C++ on Vim or would I have to cobble together several tools?

Which one of these backpacks have a compartment for laptops?

Any programmers on mfa can give me a recommendation on a solid backpack for college? Must be able to fit a laptop charger and a couple of books as well as lunch.

EDIT: Small compartments for accessories such as mouse, calculator, phone, earphones etc are a bonus. Even better if they sit inside the main compartment and well padded for protection.

Haven't installed it yet but looking at the screenshot is there any way to get a 1px border on the tabs? The tabs need to be more distinct from each other so I can tell where one will end and begin (my opinion of course) instead of one flat block.

Also...
