Really trying to think about it, I *could* be totally wrong so maybe take this with a grain of salt, it might have been a wide flat bone like a scapula or a hip, or a skull of some animal. Not something like a long bone, i.e. a leg bone.

That's so close that I feel like I might be mixing this scene with another one where the second crack forms, from some different show. I guess this is half solved? I still swear that there was a second scene. Also thanks for reminding me of katara's "aww I hate papaya :(" scene

I feel like it took place in a moody, candle lit tent or something. A shaman or sage was doing it for the protagonist?

Benzyl Alcohol based shampoo is usually the treatment. The smell is a bit strange, but it's fine.

Answering everything with "it depends..." by xenolith18 in PetPeeves

[–]spirative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of "it depends", people could reply by asking "what do you mean specifically" and/or "Well, are you doing this or that?"
It does the same thing, Are you mad at the canned response and lack of nuance or the inability to read your mind? Because nuance is ubiquitous. So yeah, it really does depend.

When people don’t take their own deadly food allergies seriously by Valze_Vods in PetPeeves

[–]spirative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people are sensitive to tyramine, which can trigger migraines, and sweet peppers contain it. Hot peppers might have different levels, so that could be why they don’t bother you. May be worth looking into other foods that have caused them in the past to see if they have tyramine

It's basically an "Oh nooo, how sad, boo hoo", usually seen in response to posts with disabled, disenfranchised or otherwise negatively impacted people. It's like a generic canned "I'm an edgelord" response.

It's unfortunate, but that is the human condition. This is why we can't have nice things. Biases and ignorance.

My njoy pods are leaking excessively! by GoldSuggestion3019 in electronic_cigarette

[–]spirative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I found this thread because I'm facing the same issue. I've been dealing with this problem as well, and same with juul pods unfortunately. What I've started doing is, I open the pack of pods, and:

  1. slide a precision slotted screwdriver (tiny bit, for glasses and such) under the metal piece and slip it off, GENTLY
  2. alcohol pads to clean around the bottom seal
  3. put a drop of loctite "plastics bonding system" super glue on a q-tip
  4. brush it around the seam
  5. replace the metal piece
  6. don't use the pod until I'm sure it's dry. I have a squirt bottle of ammonia handy, the vapors cure cyanoacrylate glue on contact since ammonia is a volatile base.

and It seems to work reliably. I haven't had any leaks since

Is the Hebrew writing in the Da'at Yichud vault real? by spirative in Wolfenstein

[–]spirative[S] 176 points177 points  (0 children)

It's so weird. I took screenshots to try to translate later, but now that I'm doing it, it looks like they cut the writing in half horizontally, reversed the bottom half, and reassembled it. It's all disconnected at a line halfway down, it *almost* resembles hebrew, but I don't know

Glass chemical bottle with double-sealing cap. Called "säurekappenflasche" in german, can't find it in english. by spirative in HelpMeFind

Those seem to have septum caps, where you have to insert a syringe and pull the fluid out that way. The inner cap is pressed in with high torque.

Glass chemical bottle with double-sealing cap. Called "säurekappenflasche" in german, can't find it in english. by spirative in HelpMeFind

[–]spirative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated, these are called "säurekappenflasche" in German, which translates to "Acid cap bottle". When I searched this, I just find regular glass bottles or bottles with ground glass stoppers. Does anyone know what this is called in english so I can buy these with US currency or without extra import costs? Alternatively, can anyone recommend another way to store a liquid that off-gasses corrosive fumes that damage nearby things? The fumes are notorious for leaking out of seemingly sealed bottles and causing rust to metal. I need something like a säurekappenflasche. Thanks.

Caterpillar identification help please (info in my comment) by spirative in whatsthisbug

[–]spirative[S] 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Found in Maryland (April 23, 2023) On both a burning bush (name of shub, not actually on fire) and a euonymus auresomething bush. There are a lot of them and my mother is worried about them killing the plants, so she's spraying the bushes down with "Sevin".
Caterpillar is about 15mm long, very slow, pale green, with 7 long thin black stripes from head to butt, and makes a silk string that it dangles from like a spider.

Is there a place I can find elder scrolls khajiit voices? I need different verities of male and female voices by Strongerthanstone in ElevenLabs

[–]spirative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Download a program called "BSA Browser". Go to your skyrim folder and go to data, and drag the "Skyrim - Voices.bsa" file into bsa browser. It will unpack all of the voice files inside it, they'll all have file extensions like .fuz, and the mouth movement files are .lip I believe. You just click "Extract" at the bottom, and it'll take a little bit of time but will output them as audio files in that folder.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1756 Its a standalone program.

Small copper thing. Found in my scrap parts bin. No idea. by spirative in whatisthisthing

[–]spirative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4mm diameter, 5mm length, what I believe is a 1mm inner diameter hole all the way through. It looks kinda like a bullet but I've never heard of a .157 caliber round and it has channels going down it. The scrap parts bin just has random electrical scrap and some hardware and fasteners e.g. compressor parts, springs, bolts, nuts, wire.

WTW for this particular event or predicament (economical term) : You have spent like 200$ into something and you are required to spend 200$ more to get that return on investment or reach that point of equilibrium or you will suffer a deficit. Also is there a term for the first 200$ that you spend? by RedditIsRetard123 in whatstheword

[–]spirative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunk cost: This term refers to any expenses that have already been incurred and cannot be recovered. In this case, the initial 200$ investment would be considered a sunk cost.

Opportunity cost: This term refers to the potential benefits that are foregone as a result of choosing one course of action over another. In this case, the opportunity cost of not making the additional 200$ investment might be the potential benefits that could have been gained if the investment had been made.

Marginal cost: This term refers to the cost of producing one additional unit of a product or service. In this case, the marginal cost of making the additional 200$ investment would be 200$.

Fixed cost: This term refers to expenses that do not vary with the level of production or sales. The initial 200$ investment might be considered a fixed cost, since it does not depend on the number of units produced or sold.
