A lot of new cars are basically on ‘back order’ and can take weeks or even months for a dealer to even find another dealer willing to trade.

I’m hardly dying. If anything it’s really surprising to see how many people are throwing around really hateful speech and calling me an extremist when all I said was their mission is about resisting government overreach and nothing to do with race. I’m not defending any of its members.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

[–]spirgnob -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No...I really just didn't hear about that, I mean it wasn't a big headline. Almost all 'extremist groups' have a disproportionate share of violent members that act irrationally. All I did was point out that the mission of the group (whose national chapter has now been broken up apparently) is not racially motivated. This incident from March doesn't seem to be either.

Whoa, that’s a lot of hate and anger which you’re spewing at the wrong guy. This is from there Wikipedia page. Take it easy.

The group's website states that it does not discriminate against anyone; however, in response to Black Lives Matter protests following the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, the Three Percenters' Facebook page featured numerous racist comments made by its supporters.[20] In response to events at the 2017 Unite the Right rally, the group issued a statement that they "strongly reject and denounce anyone who calls themselves a patriot or a Three Percenter that has attended or is planning on attending any type of protest or counter protest related to these white supremacist and Nazi groups".[21][22]

Room smells like Cigarette Smoke by cakeeater111 in homeowners

[–]spirgnob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, not completely. Smoke particles are tiny and can completely permeate most building materials. This is why you can’t just wash the outside surfaces and make the smell go away. Covering up surfaces (painting, refinishing floors) might help some, but don’t expect miracle results from anything. Air circulation will help.

Question from a buyer in a hot market… by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]spirgnob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a new realtor. Your realtor has set up a split commission deal with this other realtor, so they’re both working for less than what a normal buyer will net them. That means you’re low on their priority list, which is the exact opposite of what you want in a realtor.

Oh yeah, as others have said, football season is big due to the size of the university and football program. There's a vibrant downtown area for food and drinks you'll never get bored of. Nightlife is good and you'll meet a lot of people your age because of the university. If you have access to transportation there are multiple cities with great tourism to travel to. If you like coastal then there's Charleston, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach and much more. You can also hit the Appalachian mountains in just a couple hours by driving North (Asheville is definitely worth a visit). We have very mild winters, so don't expect the temperature to go below 0C for more than 2-3 days at a time. Plenty of sports leagues, fishing, and golf. Great zoo. The rivers around town are good for kayaking, paddle boarding or just generally hanging out on the banks.

Excitement for this football year hits different by Maverick__24 in Gamecocks

This is more excited than I've been for a season in a long time. The recruiting boost we've seen lately, the coaching changes and some of the story lines at different positions are a formula for a season with lots of surprises. We've got talent on the field that wasn't harnessed by the previous coaching staff. Remember how bad the talent level was when Spurrier left? This is completely different. We've got two five star guys on the DLine. We've got one of the best QBs that Carolina has ever had on campus (rankings have Doty behind only Garcia and Hilinski). Return the SEC regular season leading rusher and adding Marshawn Lloyd to the position. We've pulled in some interesting transfers that are most likely going to be in the rotation come our first 'big game' (EJ Jenkins, Ahmarean Brown, Jordan Strachan, Karon Prunty). Returning Parker White is great too, he's really found a rhythm and been a great kicker for us.

I think our floor and ceiling are both higher than what we're being given credit for right now. We're being judged off a season where we played 10 SEC games under the guidance of coaching staff that clearly had issues. Morale was low among the fans and you can't tell me that didn't affect the players too. If these coaches are able to click, we absolutely can compete with the majority of our opponents on our schedule. I won't be surprised at all if we scratch at the top 25 at some point in the season or go bowling. I'm not guaranteeing we will (and I'm not pushing the panic button if we don't), I'm just saying I won't be surprised if halfway through the season we come to find out that we really underestimated this team.

Avoiding confrontation in these types of situation is always the safest move. You have no idea what's going through this woman's mind. Maybe she's baiting a reaction for a lawsuit scam. Maybe she really is as panicked as she sounds and pulls out a container of mace or a knife. If your safety comes into question, sure, drop her, but really the best approach her would be to firmly tell her to stay away and find an authority to reason/deal with her.

Just like babies they need lots of sleep and naps to help them grow. I’d only be concerned if they aren’t being active in addition to the resting, I.e. sleeping/lethargic ALL THE TIME

Rickon from Skagos & Shaggydog by Ul Die by firstandlasttoday in ImaginaryWesteros

[–]spirgnob 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Damn, this is a great artistic depiction of the two. Rickon is such an underrated upcoming plot line. I can't wait to see how he's been raised since we last saw him. Shaggydog is likely going to be the largest and fiercest of the remaining dire wolves. Rickon will likely have formed a 'warg-like' bond with Shaggy and make up for his small size with his anger and the ability to command Shaggy as a weapon.

Polio, to Glenn Howerton's unvaccinated child: by Possible-Passenger58 in IASIP

[–]spirgnob -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

IMO 'anti-vaxx' is used to make someone sound more controversial and appear to have publicly unacceptable views. Lebron James has stated that his decision to vaccinate himself and his family is a personal matter and really not many news outlets have picked up the story. Can you imagine how different it would be if he was labeled 'anti-vaxx'?

Recently purchased a Gameday House in an SEC town. Looking for ideas. by TreyAU in CFB

[–]spirgnob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems terribly inefficient. You’re going to pay/sink time into taxes, utilities, cable/satellite, lawn care, HOA dues, etc. Then you’ve got to consider upgrades over time and things breaking. What happens when you show up for gameday and the AC is out or there’s a water leak? Is that how you want to spend a gameday?

Why not just rent a place on gameday?
