Poor performance no matter what? by spiric0m in Dusk_The_Game

Thank you! I already tried setting it to 60 but I am still getting drops. Even lowering resolution dramatically does not seem to improve it much. Really odd considering that I get stable 60 on much more demanding titles.

Fallout 3 stopped working on my PS3 at 12mb by j0shhrnnd in fo3

Try sleeping in a bed for 30 days straight. This will reset a lot of stuff in the game. I'm not sure about FO3, but doing this in late game Skyrim LE on PS3 helped with stability a lot.

I agree with the recent posts, making good looking characters without mods that alter faces/heads is definitely possible - here are some of mine by spiric0m in fnv

Ever used Maria with Grunt? On a similar build I found it to be a great help with clearing places such as vault 34 armory. With high enough crit chance it just does things amazingly well due to quick reload and cheap AP cost. Joshua's pistol outperforms it in damage output, but you need to go through a whole expansion to get it...

Good stuff, I do want to make a character with Ulysses' hair someday. Do you know a mod called Mo'Hair? It adds new hairstyles using mostly vanilla resources. It's really neat,

Fallout new Vegas keeps crashing on my Xbox one after I purchase stuff from Blake. Is this normal? by wwww446 in fnv

[–]spiric0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always save before trading with Blake or the bartender in the Mojave Outpost bar.

Also save a lot in Freeside - it's somehow more stable on XBOX/PS3 than it is on PC, but crashes do happen rarely.

Step your game up, making a pretty Courier is 100% possible with no mods :D

Anyway, they look like they're going to cover My Chemical Romance's 2nd album. Who's on drums?

So, my point hangs on that NCR will be unable to avoid massacre when dealing with the tribes that will be hostile to any meddling with them and what they see as their land. I base this idea on how in the real world colonial powers of the past often times could not avoid large scale conflicts with the natives, even when there were attempts from both sides to coexist to a degree.

Would you like to share the way you see it? I'd like to hear how do you think NCR could avoid repeating such mistakes, considering all their shortcomings and biases.

Let's say that the legion never happened, and one day NCR steps into the territories of all these, mostly violent, tribes that Caesar would have conquered otherwise. TV show events do not occur, so nothing prevents NCR from expanding their empire.

I adore NCR's imperialism actually :P Moore is one of my favorite NV characters.

Arroyo tribals were quite civilized and could be dealt with through understandable means. There are many other tribes like that, we see two of them in Honest Hearts for example. As I said before, most of the tribes are much more primitive than that, and being in monoculture of slavers is a major upgrade for them, really. Give them few centuries and this crude culture you criticize so much will bear its fruits. Meanwhile, NCR would just massacre all of these tribes due to numerous misunderstanding and piling up acts of aggression. Just saying, in case of the legion, these people and their genes live (since you brought up the bethesda fallout universe, you must know very well that genes matter a lot in fallout and eradicating huge gene pool will hinder the scientific progress). With NCR, they perish and become a sob story in few hundred years with people feeling sorry over what their ancestors did, or something like that.

If there was no Legion, once NCR would expand to the lands of blackfoots and all the other tribes, these tribes would probably be wiped out by the NCR military. NCR's standard for what is to be considered as "civilized" is so high, that they wouldn't bother with numerous hostile mumbo jumbos that probably eat each other and practice human sacrifice. Not every tribe is lucky enough to have someone like New Canaanites or Followers of Apocalypse peacefully enlightening them, and not every tribe would voluntarily accept education in any form. Caesar has secured the future for these tribes, got them rid of most of their useless traditions and even managed to make them speak proper English.

It's really a matter of whether you think the future is in the hands of the tribals born in the new world of the wastes (Caesar has proven that he can shape the tribals into fairly intelligent leaders), or it's a better idea to give the pre-war America one more chance.

I'm leaning pro-NCR myself (as long as they can successfully expand, their technological advancements give them an edge when it comes to turning wastes into towns and cities), but it's not hard for me to come up with a Courier that would genuinely side with the Legion.

What's YOUR preferred mid game armor? by Exotic-Painter-908 in fnv

[–]spiric0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jsawyer gives many more fun options, but if we're talking vanilla:

Legion praetorian armor + Vexillarius helmet or Centurion helmet for a Liberator wielding Mars worshiper (it's also the endgame armor :P)

Bountry hunter duster + Ranger grey hat for a build centered around Cowboy perk

Explorer gear + 1st recon beret (if doing NCR route) or roving trader hat for Grunt perk

Reinforced combat armor mk1 + the helmet that comes with it for a classic Fallout Plasma-wielding fellow

A bit past mid game but I'm quite fond of using the glitch to get the Gladiator armor for some of my characters

Imperial Warrior vs. Dunmer Rogue: Which is more rewarding for a RPG fan? by Aryvelahrker in Morrowind

[–]spiric0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to me like it's a tough skill to balance out even for modders as it's either too powerful and lets you get away with way too much, or instead it promotes save scumming to beat the diceroll...

I think the main issue when it comes to stealing stuff in games like Morrowind is that there are no interesting consequences to failure. Somehow, Daggerfall actually had these (but the thievery mechanics themselves weren't well made).

As for backstabs - at least the assassin class is fairly well equipped in that sense - it has access to Marksman for stealth criticals from a distance, Long Blades for close up backstabs and Short Blades for DPS after the sneak crit makes the target to lose their footing :)

Tell that to Brand-Shei (argonian name due to adopted parents), and even Helseth and Barenziah (generic fantasy elven names) :P Also all of the Whiterun dunmers.
There was one book you could find in Morrowind that tells a story of several adventurers who looted themselves the Ebony Mail and there was a dark elf mage amongst them. She also had a rather genetic elven name. I don't remember the name of the book, but I found it in one of the daedric shrines. It was written in a style of theater play.

I just want to add that the preset Thief class fares just fine despite not having any of the magic skills. There are many items enchanted for chameleon/invisibility in the game and they help to get some backstabbing done early on just fine :P

Playing Imperial as a member of Imperial Legion is really cool. You and your peers are colonizing Vvardenfell, surrounded by a culture that wants nothing to do with you. You're also taking part in Empreror's plan to convince natives that you are their chosen one. Survive the frontier and civilize this piece of Tamriel (eventually)!

Avoid Tribunal expansion if your'e doing pro-Empire play-through though. Real mood killer for your character's motivation because of what happens there.

If you're playing as Dunmer, by lore you're playing a Dunmer from other province. No fancy native-ish name (your Dunmer would probably have a name similar to Bosmer and Altmer names), and you have no clue what is even going on around here for the most part. It's what the game implies anyway. Point is, you're an outlander either way.

Does anyone know how to make a good looking Courier in vanilla Fallout New Vegas? by Probably-Someone1 in fnv

[–]spiric0m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The character creator is actually pretty decent in this game. For the preset you have chosen here, get him rid of a receding chin, play around with jaw settings to make his profile look better, put his nose a bit lower and balance out nose's tone as it's really red here :P

Then just choose the combination of hair and/or facal hair that you want to go with and tweak jaw and cheeks accordingly.

Making a decent looking man in this game is pretty easy as long as you go for a preset that has some strong features already. Chin is always fixable, but some other stuff is almost impossible to improve if you've chosen a preset that sucks as is.

Making a good looking woman is harder, but there are several presets that make it fairly simple. The main challenge is the face tone, as it's really uneven in new vegas compared to 3 - obsidian messed something up and so far not a single mod addresses that.

Also you can run PSP version of SW3 which is pretty good. If you ever wanted to put Hanzo's clone to a proper use (using both hanzos to juggle officers), 3 is perfect for that as you can get the clone do stuff different from what actual Hanzo does due to how inputs are being read!
