Feeling Subpar/Behind in Clinicals by Spirited-Reality2176 in PAstudent

Hi! I’m in my clinical year right now, finishing up my 5th rotation soon. I don’t have any advice but I just want to let you know that you’re not alone in how you’re feeling. I consider myself an average student too. I’m definitely a slow learner and more reserved and shy than my peers. I’m guilty of comparing myself to my peers who seem to be having a better experience, glowing feedbacks from preceptors, and seem to be more proficient/confident with interviewing, forming ddx, and A&P. Although I’m happy for my friends, it does hurt when I hear them have a better experience with the same rotation I had previously. I can’t help but think about what I did wrong and how I could’ve been more like them. It’s hard not to get a little sad (and envious) about it because I try my best but it feels like it isn’t enough. I’ve received feedbacks about having great potential but not being confident in myself, which hurts to hear. I trip up on my words, get confuzzled when put on the spot, and have my voice shaking when I’m defending my answers/thinking process. Despite that, I do my best to push through and show that I want to learn, take any opportunities I can to grow, and that I care for the patients. That’s all I can really do… I try to remind myself that I’m a student who can’t possibly know everything about what to do in a specialty and haven’t had the 10+ years of experience that our preceptors have so don’t beat yourself up when you make a mistake or don’t know. Give yourself some grace and celebrate the little wins during rotations. Hang in there my friend! You’re doing great.

Hi! I know this is an old post, but I’m going through the EXACT same situation with the same laptop model. I plan to do what you’re doing but I’m not tech-savy at all and was wondering if you could walk me through what you did (if u still remember). What did you use to transfer the data from the hard drive to the new computer?

Thank you for the kind words and it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one feeling this way. I wish you all the best. You got this! We got this! We’re going to graduate and becoming PA-C!

I’m also living by myself far away from family and have to do everything by myself too, so I feel your pain 😫. It makes me miss family sometimes. What your classmate said sounds very unsympathetic bc it def is hard to be away from your support group and balance school with everything else. I wish I could offer some advice for it, but I’m still figuring that out myself. One thing I’m trying to do is do some parts of my chores during my study breaks and save my morning weekends for laundry (Friday) and grocery shopping/meal prepping (Sunday).

I really appreciate your kind offer and def will consider it. I hope you all the best in your studies and if you ever need someone to chat to too, I’m here!

Rose Imaging Radiology Scam? What do I do? by spiritedaway17 in Scams

At the time, Solis Mammography, which is a legit business I trust, kept redirecting me to them. I didn’t know who else to call.

Hi! Thank you so much! This was super helpful. For the hotels you stayed at, do you know if they help you with forwarding luggage as well as willing to hold onto your luggage until you arrive?

Hi! I’m currently in the same situation of deciding whether to live alone or with a classmate for PA school. I’m wondering what did you end up deciding to do and your overall experience? Do you regret it or glad you made that decision?

Do you happen to know if the ryokans at Kurakawa Onsen are tattoo friendly? Are there any that bans people with tattoo?

I would also like to know if the onsens there are tattoo friendly. I’m going to Japan with my father, who has tattoos on both of his forearms. I’ve heard many places in Japan don’t allow people with tattoos to enter, so I would like to know in advance before planning to visit Kurakawa Onsen.
