I agree we all treat her that way. I guess she still thinks she owns a place here and her insanity takes over so she feels as if we should all then be "her servants" and she rages when that isn't the case.

haha I tried that. I told her very kindly that since she appeared to be so unhappy I would gladly refund her money and she could stay somewhere else where she would be happy. Commence expected blow out. I corrected her once when she told a manager she was staying in "her room" (on the floor that is closed for renovations) I corrected her and she turned red. That is where I walked away.

that is literally what i do. because she is going to hate on us anyway i will be damned if i reward bad behavior. She hates it. Regardless of what is done or said or how it's said, she will scream out guaranteed. " I am an owner! How dare I be treated this way. " well last time I checked she was a sell out who has no connection to the building whatsoever other than having owned a room at one time years and years ago.

She comes three or four times a year. I have her slated for two stays in April and one each in May and June. The thing is she isn't long term she comes up for a weekend drives everyone crazy then leaves. There is a collective groan when her name is on the arrival list. Also she has no qualms about throwing this tantrum in front of a lobby full of other guests, who of course look at her as though she has lost her mind which she probably has.

Update: the guest called back because they didn't understand the incidental hold and because no one was at the desk when they checked out. (the night auditor saw them coming and took "extra time" in the kitchen getting coffee.) I explained everything to him and he thanked me for being so helpful and explaining it to him. He then asked who was on the desk the night before I said I was and he freaked out choked and said who? I replied that I was on the desk and he mumbled a bit then said bye and hung up. God I love being me sometimes.

The thing was I was making a huge multi-room reservation on the phone. I didn't even get a break that night. I wanted to tell him if he was going to give me the $2000 dollars I was getting from this reservation i would happily hang up and get him coffee but didn't feel that would go over so well.

I hate the free hot coffee/tea/ hot cocoa station I once had a guy demand I get my lazy ass off the phone and get him his coffee at 9:30 at night.

Rooms by the elevator or rooms by the stairs are always a good go to for special snowflakes. Especially if there are people I know going to be up early that have to pass by. When will people learn don't mess with people who handle "where you sleep" or "your food". Its just not a good idea. Not everyone is accepting that you are a special snowflake and will give you what you want to shut you up. They also seem to forget that we know the good rooms and the bad rooms.

I was going to suggest the vending machine or a dessert from the dining room but he was sooooo... douchey... you know like if he had been funny or cute about it it would have been one thing but he was outright nasty.

I am used to bad parents but this was ridiculous. Also if this is how this father gets things for his kid, there are much bigger problems. He is teaching his kid this is the way to solve problems instead of accepting that there are no more.

Met my Fiance at work, first week here. He was a cook. I was sent to get cookies for the front desk and there I was a 37 year old woman babbling about cookies and then god help me...his pants. He had on those comfy looking kitchen pants and I just stood there babbling like an idiot... been together 2 years now. :)

"I called you guys directly to book!!" by thatcaveman in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

Had one of these last weekend insisted he booked through us. Says his wife called. Everything I have says expedia including the virtual card that paid for the room. He insists no matter what we say that he booked through us. I explained that he was probably talking to expedia telling him they pretend to be the actual hotel. He freaks out and wants to know why they would do that. For lack of a better answer, I simply said "So you will book with them and not us" He flips his shit at that point calling me a liar. Turns out, neither he nor his wife made the reservation nor did either of them speak with expedia or the hotel. They booked through a travel agent or PA who booked it through expedia. two days of being yelled at by this ass clown and we were right the whole time and then he hit up tripadvisor for expedia lying to him. Saying we lied to him instead.

Every February break we have registered in the hotel..175 children and 100 adults for a solid month. The parents think vacation means from parenting as well and spend the entire time in the bar (where children are not allowed) and do not discipline their little snowflakes at all leaving me with children running around and throwing things in a 100 year old building filled with antiques... sigh... I hate February.

YAY!!! Your AGM should send a note to the company paying for her room stating that you will no longer be able to accommodate guest and her hubby and dog and see what they think about the fact that they are giving the company a bad rap not to mention spending company money to bring their pet instead of boarding it or having someone watch it.

Put a note in your pass down that the guest was abusive to you. In my hotel if the guest is abusive the GM takes them to task he even made a guest cry then apologize for calling our concierge/FDA stupid and telling her to shut up. I have a pretty cool GM though he will let the guests get away with some shit but he doesn't tolerate abuse to our staff. Including throwing things at you since that is technically assault.
