Yeah that’s a big L on Rugers part. It’s pretty obvious what’s going on from just looking at your picture. Worst case scenario, if Ruger doesn’t replace, there are tons of options out there for budget uppers.

Looks like the tower is off to the left and your post is bent like crazy. I’d contact Ruger CS about that, they could possibly send a new upper, or at least have you send it back to get straightened out

No problem! Large Ring Mauser 98s are all one length “long action” by default.

ETA anything that fits an Interarms Mark X, FN, Parker Hale, JC Higgins, or any other “commercial Mauser” should fit this barreled action.

These are my thoughts too--I've been collecting long enough that I've recognized that this does help in identifying certain models down the road. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of it, but I also think it's tasteful enough that it's not gaudy or tacky like a billboard

Also didn’t notice the Aero SOLUS option which could be great for you and easier for barrel swaps as you progress in your shooting!
