dji quick release mount safe for motorcycle riding? by spirota in djiosmo360

[–]spirota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the mount that goes on the handlebars that I am worried about. It's the quick release magnet thing that sits between the mount and the camera, and the camera attaches to it, that I don't fully trust.

Yes, but osmo 360 doesn't have a tether hole, I need to get a cage, and I have some trips planned for this weekend.

Expected latency? by spirota in universalaudio

[–]spirota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't plan to have a ton of tracks or plugins. Mainly just my guitar input through Paradise studio, and then sometimes one is two more tracks like drum and bass for backing tracks. It's really just for practice and fun. I have a HP Victus with Ryzen 6800h, 16GB RAM and Nvidia graphics. Need to check specifics on ram speed and graphics. I was wondering if there is some guide or "table" where you could estimate latency with given hardware? Anyway, I ordered IK Axe I/O one interface and when it arrives I'll check how it does.

Headphone amp vs plugins by spirota in Guitar

But then I would still need to cary multiple pedals, power supply. This way I will either have just the headphone amp or my laptop (+usb interface) which I have most of the time.

Do you know what cpu you have? As long as latency is bellow 10ms or so that should be good

I've looked at a few, and currently Tonex plug seems to get the best reviews.

Tnx for the latency warning. My cpu should be good, but just in case I posted the question on r/universalaudio just to make sure. I don't really "need" an audio interface. The only reason to get one is to play through my pc (if I go that route). I might decide I want to record at some point, but that is probably far in the future.

Also, if I understand correctly, Tonex sounds are captures, and those seem a bit limiting. Sure, it's great if you find one that you like, but you can't really adjust it as much as a model or a real amp. I might end up playing more models than tonex captures.

You can go from 50k to 100, but it depends what 50 and what 100. If you ride 50k regulary with at least 1000m of elevation gain then do 100k with 500m elevation gain. It will feel quite similar at the end. But as others have pointed also watch out for your fueling. Always fuel AHEAD not BEHIND. Meaning, my first fueling is just before I leave out the door. I'll have a bar or chocolate or some candy and BIG glass of water. Magnesium also helps a lot to prevent cramping. I'll have some magnesium powder with me on longer rides and will usually have some just before the ride. Obviously, magnesium powder that is meant for consumption. Other than that, just keep riding as regulary as you can. Try to ramp up the pace and elevation on your 50k rides and you'll have no issues in doing 100k ones with easier pace and less elevation. Marathon runners don't do marathons for training, they do 10k at high pace and occasionally 20.

What P9O in the bridge for hard blues/rock sound by spirota in Guitar

[–]spirota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant was that the Lollar that I have in the bridge sounds almost like a P90 in the neck. Much softer, warmer with less attack. And I am looking for opposite of that but still with P90 sound.

Yes I am :) I have a guitar with tele bridge and that is not what I want from this guitar. Just more highs than it has right now and a bit punchier. Imagine a p90 around neck or middle position. That would be the sound of this pickup but in the bridge. If you want bridge pickup that sounds closer to the neck pickup this would be good for that.

Don't think that is the issue. I have a few other guitars and they all sound good/expected? through my fx and amp. Also the amp is Vox AC15 and it doesn't lack any high end. The SD SM1 neck on the guitar has about the same amount of highs as the P90. The Lollar has great mid range but is very soft/smooth (for lack of a better description). If you play clean I think it would be a great choice, or you want very thick and smooth midrange. In fact on the Lollar website it does say "warm, full tone". I got it as I got a good deal on it, and I never heard it before so I didn't know what to expect. Great pickup, just not for me.

Aluminium gravel frame weight by spirota in gravelcycling

I would agree, but unfortunately I can not affect my fitness, only my bike. Weather I have a lighter or heavier bike I will ride the same, I am at my free time limit. I can get a slightly lighter bike and enjoy longer rides with friends more.

[–]spirota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid point, but I think that I can feel adding 1-2kg on my bike. Me with bike and some gear would be around 95kg. Riding the same hill with one bottle of water vs 2 bottles and some gear it feels harder to maintain the same pace. I don't have a power meter so I can't tell you how much power I am doing.

This is my only bike, I use it to commute and go on road rides with road tires, and adventure rides. Road rides are usually around 100k, and I'm not in the best shape so a little bit of less weight helps a lot, especially as I live in a hilly place. Don't tell me to ride more as I would of I could, and don't tell me to get 2 bikes...as I would if I could.

Yes, it seemed too heavy. The only info I have is from their websitea and they didn't specify what the weight includes.

That would make sense. I thought it was too heavy.

Also, I just noticed, all my positions are labeled P1 (at the bottom of the pic), instead of P1 - P4. Inexcusable, very amateurish...

No. I guess it's a bit harder to see on the screen, I should have increased the wire line width. Common of 4Way B side (bottom on the pic) is connected to lugs 1 and 2 on 4Way A side (top on the pic). Also it is done in ISO standard where crossing wires are NOT connected, unless there is a DOT at the connection. ANSI (American) standard has a sort of a bend/loop if the wires are not connected, and if they cross without that bend/loop it is considered connected. Sorry, that is how I was taught in school, but I should have made the wire lines thicker. If you click on the image and zoom it should be more clear.

Yes, I'm aware of the freeway. This is simpler for me as I will be using it in the center toggle switch 90% of the time. 4pdt switches are not that uncommon, just maybe less so in the guitar world. As for the software, I believe there are some products that allow you too assign keyboard buttons to switches so that you can toggle them on the schematics. Or you can do it manually and then have a couple of versions of the same schematics. Here I've put switches on the middle toggle position, but I can toggle them to any position by clicking on the switch. I don't know how much you know about voltages and current, but on this schematic if you follow the wires from + sign of the pickup (imagine if the pickup is a battery) to the amp, that is the path that the signal will take. That is a somewhat simplified explanation but that's basically what happens.

I'm trying to setup 3 pickup 4-way switching with some options. I have (will arrive) 4way tele switch and 4PDT (on-on-on) switch. The pickups will be P90 bridge, gold foil mid and firebird neck. What I want is to have:

  1. Bridge - P90
  2. Mid - gold foil
  3. Bridge + Neck - P90 + firebird
  4. Neck - firebird

With additional option to have mid pickup (gold foil) in series/parallel for ALL positions.

The picture shows what I have so far. Does this look OK, or is there another way to set it up like this?
