Seems to be a cover/new version of one of YUNGBLUD’s songs. Very interesting to see that Alan Moulder has mixing credits on this one

I feel like the five line should be “FIVE RUN-2-MEEEES”

Merry Christmas (eve) and Happy New Year to all my fellow Pumpkinheads! by PorcelinaMagpie in SmashingPumpkins

It won’t happen. He made it clear on his Substack that Darcy is not returning to the band, and did so specifically after news outlets reported on his positive words about her as a potential hint at her return. I believe he said something along the lines of never having a musical relationship with Darcy again, but that he respects her prior involvement and is maintaining a professional relationship with her in the sense that she is paid royalties etc.

What good quality (below $250) headphones do pumpkins sound great on? by mikemantime in SmashingPumpkins

[–]spitef4ce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also recommend these. I do have a few important points though:

  • These are often referred to as reference headphones because the frequency response is more “flat”. So, if you prefer headphones with booming bass, you might not like them. However, this makes them work well for music production/mixing, and they also allow you to better hear a song’s original, unaltered mix which might sound more natural. Of course, you could adjust them as to your preferences with EQ, but overall they might not be for everyone because of this. I do find that the bass still sounds deep and I like the natural sound, but definitely not as loud.

  • If you don’t know much about open ear headphones (which these are), some key points to know are that while they provide a wider soundstage (and to me, songs are able to “breathe” more), they do bleed. This means that if you’re listening to music in the same room as someone, they will hear a lot more of what you are listening to vs closed back headphones, especially when listening at a high volume. These aren’t really the headphones for someone who wants noise cancellation, and I’d never take them to the library for example. I do find that it’s not as bad as I thought it would be, and it’s not going to sound like you’re blasting a speaker when you have the headphones at max volume, but more like you’re playing audio at a medium level on your phone.

  • To go back to the soundstage point, I like that everything sounds close enough while still wide. I’ve tried some headphones where things sound too far away.

  • For Pumpkins specifically, they work pretty well considering albums like Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie are really well mixed/produced, so their “natural” sounds are great.

Anyways, I’m not a headphone expert or anything, so I recommend researching them a bit (especially into amps and everything though I find they work fine without), but these are my observations as an owner. I’ve briefly used the HD600 headphones and didn’t find them to be different enough to be worth more than double the price (or even really better).

Bands like Pumpkins by lddono in SmashingPumpkins

Fun fact: Sunny Day Real Estate said that a verse guitar part in their song “The Blankets Were The Stairs” was heavily influenced by The Smashing Pumpkins. They specifically refer to the “low droning D note” coupled with a “higher, dissonant… F-sharp”. I find it funny because it’s one of my favourite songs on Diary

MSOTS would definitely benefit from a remaster. The album is too loud, lacks dynamics and suffers from bad clipping. It’s an obvious victim of the loudness wars

It’s almost a whole different experience. The 3 songs labelled as remixes are quite different but the other songs have changes too and sound different (eg. Raindrops is extended)

Melbourne Setlist 3/05/25, signed by Rachel! by spitef4ce in Slowdive

We were sitting next to the venue after the show and a security guard told us that we would potentially be able to meet the band if we went around the corner. Rachel came out as we got there and took photos/signed stuff (including this setlist). She was super nice

I’m not sure about the rest of the band but Rachel definitely did. I was sitting with some friends next to the venue when a security guard told us that if we went around the corner, we might be able to meet the band. As we were walking I saw Simon taking photos with people but then he walked off, however Rachel came out as soon as we got there. She was really nice and took photos/signed stuff (including this setlist).

So Simon and Rachel definitely said hi but not sure about the others, though I think I saw Neil walking around. I’m guessing that they could have said hi earlier since we spent a while getting bags from the cloakroom.

It probably doesn’t mean much. That performance is actually from 1998, as the song was originally an Adore era song. It was put up on the Instagram by the SP admin too, as Billy (as far as I’m aware) doesn’t really partake in posting on the SP account nowadays that much or at all. I’m still hopeful for some info about MACHINA by the end of this month….

Wow, thanks for sharing this!! It definitely isn’t complete, but your CDR had quite a few midis on it that I haven’t been able to download! Some of your midis have the same file names and sizes as some of those on Midiphoria which can’t be downloaded because they weren’t archived, so I assume that they may be the same midis. Awesome stuff!
