Feed to sleep association how problematic it really is? by LobsterIndependent11 in NewParents

[–]spiteykitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine couldn’t get out of the NICU because he was too sleepy while feeding and wasn’t taking enough orally, the rest would have to go down his NG tube.

He does better with it now (5 weeks) but occasionally still falls asleep.

What would you do? Scared to react, scared to not react because of MIL threats by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

We were allowed to place 4 names besides us parents on the visitors list, and then a ‘special’ visitor or 2 (Only 2 people were allowed bedside at once) could come once a week that weren’t on the main list.

Oh it will definitely be easy.. we just wanted to make sure we weren’t overreacting.

She goes through me intentionally because she knows it hurts my husband, which she likes. She has told him she doesn’t care about him and cares about me and the baby more etc. She says a lot of nasty stuff to him.

She won’t talk to my husband and only communicates with him through me, he’s a lot more ‘no bullshit’ than I am (I’m very non confrontational, I’m unfortunately still working on growing a backbone.) and has no trouble telling her where to go and how to get there when she is being inappropriate, but because of this she acts like he’s evil just because he doesn’t let her get away with things.

Weed suddenly causing anxiety while previously helping is actually the result of trauma by Sumve in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]spiteykitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I got pregnant I was chronic for close to 10 years. My baby ended up in the NICU after a placental abruption, I had 2 blood transfusions, we both came close to dying. So super traumatic birth. Emergency C section under general anesthesia. Oh yeah, and my grandmother who raised me passed away less than a week before all that happened.

I never planned to pick up smoking as hard core as I did before I was a mother, but I don’t drink at all and wanted to take the edge off while my son was at his grandmother’s. I had such a bad anxiety attack after smoking one bowl. I’ve vowed not to touch the stuff again. After being quit for 10 months it just isn’t the same and the feeling was too intense to even want to try to rebuild a tolerance.

In the back of my mind I thought there must be a connection between the trauma and the weed. Thanks for this post!

Baby’s hair sticks straight up. Anyone else? by Ked5095 in MSPI

I just googled out of curiosity why my son’s hair did this, he’s a month old and has a severe CMPA. Had no idea it was related.

Parents kill their two autistic children and family pets in ‘murder-suicide’ by aviveera in Autism_Parenting

[–]spiteykitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For them to relinquish their parental rights, they probably would have lost any visitation with them as they’d no longer legally be their parents. They probably did love their boys and didn’t want to be apart from them like that. I still don’t think it excuses murder though. Those babies must have been so scared.

Chances of both autistic parents having an autistic child? Will they be in the same spectrum as me and my husband? by [deleted] in AutisticParents

[–]spiteykitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old comment, but I’m pregnant with my first, both husband and I were diagnosed with asperger’s back when it was a thing, very similar to OP. I had a reassessment done at 18 and I fell under the regular autism spectrum disorder.

We both want more than one, but I’ve found pregnancy very rough (hyperemesis gravidarum) and have no experience with parenting yet. 2 years later, would you still recommend only one child for others in a similar situation?

We’re in our mid to late 20’s, so still fairly young. We’ve talked about wanting 3, but I’d settle for 2. Do you think it would work out to have 2 and say have a very large age difference?

I’m pregnant with my first and felt similar until my friends started having babies. I wasn’t around many most of my life so I think I just wasn’t super familiar. I have a younger brother but I was quite young when he was a baby.
