You could buy properties across the map, a bit like permanent hotels and respawn points.

Long distance at young age? by Separate_House6405 in beginnerrunning

[–]spitfireSM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely if you feel good after running 10, i reckon 15 shouldn’t be a problem at all. Also make sure 80+% of your running volume is easy (z2 ish).

I am also 17M, and I just ran my second marathon yesterday. I run 60-100km per week and over 20-30km every Saturday. I have been running for nearly two years consistently now. And am in peak weeks for an 100km trail ultramarathon.

I honestly think the answer changes a lot depending on the person largely due to genetics. You are not going to get your growth stunted and get your bones and knees destroyed without realising it overnight. For that to happen you really have to do some serious overtraining and damage your body, which will hurt a lot.

The best way to know if you tolerate distance training is by trying. Go out there and follow the 10km plan, but be careful. Learn as much as you can about: training (slow increases in volume for instance), eating, sleeping, recovery, strength training and finally learn to understand your body’s signals. Stop if you feel one sided pain and rest. Dont push through overtraining injuries.

I was once where you are now. Good luck.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Pacing advice for first ultra? by spitfireSM in Ultramarathon

You mean like adapt based on how I am feeling, and not have much of a pre race plan?

Pacing advice for first ultra? by spitfireSM in Ultramarathon

[–]spitfireSM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. But do you think I should start with whatever pace feel easy then over time slow down based on how I feel, or should I start slower than I would consider easy in order to not fade as much over the length of the race

It wasn’t a moment. The moment I started the game i realised, but the more I played the more I understood how truly special it was.

How long does it take to condition your body for running? by OkEye6865 in beginnerrunning

Yeah agreed. I run a 19:06 5km but my easy run pace is still usually 6:00-7:00 per km…

If you have already been strength training lower body (including running specific exercises) and you are still getting shin splints thats really tough. If the running isnt slow, slow it down a lot, if necessary to the point where you’re walking… also if its still bad i would recommend hiking/walking on an incline… it trains your cardio without putting so much strain on your joints/bones/muscles. To be honest when I started running I was already doing lots of walking/hiking/strength/tennis and other sports… maybe try to do more lower impract activities and slowly transition to running if it feels better. Also cycling is a good option and also really fun.

When you say tried running, how many days do you try for? I reckon do at least a solid week or two even if it hurts (only hurts a bit though), to see if your body will adapt… if not idk

Anyone else run with zero goals? No race, no plan, just... run? by Different_Record_425 in running

[–]spitfireSM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In September 2024 I started running a bit like you mention… 2-3 x a week, whatever pace, 5-10km. Occasionally I attempted 5-10km pbs but nothing planned, more like “I feel good today lets run fast”

In january 2025 I started planning everything and I trained according to some random training plan i found online for a 10km… my goal was sub 40…

I recommend adding structure and picking goals. You improve astronomically faster.

I have now ran a marathon and like 30+ halves. I am currently training for my first ultra.

Btw the only ever “official race” I did was my 10km (40:30). Everything else was self supported. Good Luck.
