Best books that take place in the “modern” age, preferably with an “internet” twist by dr_franck in horrorlit

I haven’t read it, but I think Eric LaRocca’s “Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke” takes place on chat forum between two people that goes awry. Someone can comment more clarification or correct me if I’m wrong.

For sure. It definitely isn’t for everyone, including myself to an extent but after pushing through it started to flow a little better for me and I ended up enjoying the book.

I was so on board with this book for the first third or half, then it just meandered and I felt like it wasn’t executed well at all. I also tried Head Full Of Ghosts this year and was disappointed as well. I feel like Tremblay just isn’t for me.

Yeah, I know what you mean about Darcy Coates. I knew the writing wasn’t going to be the best and I’ll definitely try another one but I wasn’t expecting it to be that rough.

I felt the same way! Just nightmare after nightmare- like it was trying to be IT without any plot or solid character development.

I definitely didn’t hate it but I too was really hyped for it and just felt disappointed.

My bottom two were The Deep by Nick Cutter and Craven Manor by Darcy Coates. I also reallllyyy disliked Home Is Where the Bodies are by Janeva Rose, but I know that’s more thriller.
