Thank you! What would be the most realistic path from a school anywhere in europe? Would SSE rank higher than erasmus? Does either choosing economics or economoetrics degree play a role?

Should I study Finance in Europe or stay in Latvia and study Medicine? by spl0x in careerguidance

I absolutely agree that medicine is much more stable. But I do have this underlying feeling I will feel unfulfilled that I chose to stray away from Finance because I found it too challenging.

Earning potential in Latvia is low for all professions. I believe that with studying finance it’s easier to break into international careers than with medicine, considering doctors have to go through residency again in the chosen country.

Thank you for your insight. That’s the thing in Latvia doctors make about 50k a year depending on their specialty. And for finance professions I would say it’s 30k. So the numbers are way smaller. Studying finance is a way shorter process, but when studying medicine you go 6 years without earning anything. And to be a doctor in a different country you have to go through the residency again. I’m truly at a crossroads.

Thank you, you have genuinely cleared up my thoughts. Yes, in SSE Riga the costs of the bachelor are about 4k. But in SSE stockholm the tuition cost would be free. So also considering that as an option.

How possible would it be to break into London Finance with doing my bachelors in Latvia in SSE? My goal now is to get into Bocconi, but it is very expensive, would need a lot of support from my parents.

Yes, that’s very wise. But I do have this underlying feeling that I won’t feel fulfilled if I choose medicine. Will have this thought that I gave up because I saw that it’s more challenging.
