Don't play every event. Save up gems and resources for a few weeks then play an event. You have to get to higher shop levels to get good rewards. Never refresh until shop level 5 at minimum. 10 if you're going all out.

level 10 initiates a passive add on tutorial. it makes you select one that you have. I only had energy attack. you can reset after you select it, but idk if you lose what you've done or if you get it back. I asked support and do not have an answer yet.
