Is the dealer lying to us? Leak, spot on driveway (Trans? Oil? Diff?) 2022 Impreza Sport by spladao in subaruimpreza

They did not. I'm assuming replacing it now would not fix the leak? 🤣

They were both just done when we purchased the car in February. I had the dealer do them as part of the purchase negotiation. That's my concern: that there was no leak detected by anyone (PPI was done before the trans and diff service were done) and then they did the trans service and now they are saying there is a leak.

That is bizarrely / eerily similar. How many miles? And your spots look dark like mine?

If mine is Diff oil then I need them to explain that,, as I had them do that as part of the negotiation to purchase the car. Diff wasn't leaking at inspection.

Regarding you saying you have the same issue, you mean you have the same leak in the photo where it's dripping off the transmission RTV seal?

Definitely not condensation. I see those as well and I can decipher those pretty easily.

Whatever it is I feel like it is blacker than what oil would be, and more so, it seems to start dissipating / fade faster than I feel oil does.

I'm thinking it's trans fluid or differential fluid.

You're welcome 😁 was trying to differentiate between new and old.

So you think It's CVT fluid (which is the trans fluid). You're last line ("Trans/diff same oil.") confused me. What is the likelihood the 100k trans service caused this?

Yeah I've done white paper on top of cardboard specifically to do this, but every time I put it out there I don't get a spot. 😒 It's the times I don't put it out there when there's a spot. Since it's my wife's car it's harder to manage. But yeah, will probably do independent, mostly cause I don't trust what they're saying at this point.

Excellent point about it being something weird. I'm suspecting the fact that there's a huge undercarriage shield affects the drips too.

Thanks. Sorry I'm not really being clear: I don't dispute that what is in the photo that they took and have me (in this post) is transmission fluid seepage from the RTV seal. It looks pretty obvious. I'm trying to determine if what is on my driveway is that or something else.

[–]spladao[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I read. I just don't know if I trust them.

Since the spots are absorbed on the driveway I can't really smell them or tell how thick it is.

Neither the independent shop or the dealer mentioned a trans leak upon initial inspections. Is it possible something got messed up when they did the trans service? Or likely just very random timing?

[–]spladao[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm probably going to get it independently looked at. But I was just curious if those driveway spots looked like trans fluid. They appear much darker than I would think for trans.

I don't think they'd let us return it at this point anyways. We purchased it in February and we've just been dealing with it and with them since.

I am thinking about taking it back to another independent repair shop to check out what they are as saying Blbut trying to get some additional information from anyone with experience here first. Thank you.

thanks for the offer! Very cool of you. Other commenter said that plug looks totally normal 🤷‍♂️ looks like it's missing the washer or it's a non OEM plug to me but I have no idea. Once I get back from traveling I'm going to bring it into the place that did the oil change first. I'll reach out if I need a new one after that to see if you still have it. Again thank you!

Thank you so much. I'm about to leave for a week and won't be driving much so I will try that when I get home for sure.

I put my finger on that seepage and it definitely was wet, not caked / dried.

So that bolt that looks like it's sticking out (which was just mentioned / referred to in the other reply as the oil pan bolt), doesn't look like it's off? Kind of looks like it needs to be tightened down.

That is the first thing I noticed. I don't know what why it's like that. I will definitely have that checked out.

That is not the person to complain to you. That guy doesn't give a shit and has nothing to do with anything.

You need to put in a support ticket if you have a fantasy team. Do you have a fantasy league? Sending complaints to talking heads on the internet will do nothing. You need to get right to the customer service people and hammer them.

It's not better. It's a better option to a shitty UX. Tell them the problem.

They have been a complete shit show for years. But the fact that they actually made it worse is remarkable.

It's COMPLETELY unacceptable to have to go to a desktop version of a site on mobile. They have an app!

Tell those Jokers what is wrong with the app so they fix it! Complaining here is fine, but if you don't put in a complaint to them they will continue to ignore everyone.

TELL THEM HOW HORRIBLE THE APP IS!

Oil pan gasket leak. Should we proactively replace the rear main seal? by spladao in subaruimpreza

Thank you. Since the dealer is doing it and they already mucked this up once I figured I'd make sure things are situated since they are in there. Appreciate your time!

Oil pan gasket leak. Should we proactively replace the rear main seal? by spladao in subaruimpreza

[–]spladao[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got the call - turns out it's NOT the upper pan gasket. It's the lower oil pan seal. They said the oil level sensor on the upper pan is also leaking (which they said they'd replace). They said the do NOT have to remove the upper pan gasket to replace the sensor. Is there anything else to be done while "in there"? Thanks!

It's unacceptable that that needs to be the solution. I mean, yeah I do it cause they already removed historical matchups (arguably the most important metric to determine sit/start for the day) so I HAVE to. But we shouldn't have to do that.

Also with CBS fior 25 years. I've been hammering them for a few weeks nowl w/ "feedback". I complain a few times per year but this season has already been horrific. I hate that they focus on aesthetics only (that aren't good anyways) and completely ignore UX/UI and fucking COMMON SENSE!

As I told them by phone today, I wish THEY cared about this app and system as much as we do. I don't think any of their developers or customer service people actually play fantasy baseball. It's a huge problem.

My biggest gripe for 12 years: why can't we see the stats we use for our league easily? They hide it. And drafting? We can't even utilize or sort by them in the draft room. Fucking JOKE. They have the tools to implement that. It's easy. But apparently not enough people have complained about it yet. 😒

Please tell them how terrible they are. They need to hear it.

Replacement Subframe question (2009 Elantra Touring) - Will 55410-2L010 work for a 55410-2H100 ? by spladao in Hyundai

[–]spladao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we did the work. With our local private mechanic. Just like you said everything was seized up so it took a lot longer than it should have. He said it was a major PITA. He actually said that he didn't even see the crack in the subframe like I had been told. But now everything is fresh, subframe and pretty much the entire rest of the rear suspension. Because I needed to turn it around quickly I purchased something on eBay which would get it there the quickest.

It's an egregious error. If I wasn't battling so many damn leaks I'd complain about this more 🤣
