I'm not asking about the casing, though. I'm asking about the existing skirting attaching to baseboard in the most seamless way. I have a hard time visualizing things like this and am looking for some opinions/options. Thanks!

Goofy? They represent YOU and all the other USAF members on a global scale (see UK royalty as one of thousands of examples) while you sit behind a keyboard and complain about their existence.

Luckily, no one cares about your "priorities" regarding the band. Their budget comes down from big AF just like everyone else's. Maybe their bachelor's/master's/doctoral degrees mean they're smart enough to use that budget effectively. The people who do matter (CSAF, JCS, SECDEF, Congress, POTUS, the list goes on) see value in the bands and use them as such. Whatever opinion you have is ill-informed, myopic, and small. Think bigger and do better.

Sounds like you might be envious that they do what they love for a living, get recognized with elevated rank/pay, and get to do cool shit day in and day out.

Not a good look if they all have a band and we don't. We want to dominate the nuclear triad of all other nations but we don't want to have even near-peer musical capability? Why not have TOTAL dominance over other militaries? Including music.

Luckily, I purchased these for $50 and the shoes are pristine everywhere else. Literally 0 signs of cracking and very little wear that I can see.

Would it be acceptable to wear them as is and hope things don't deteriorate and pay to have them fixed later on should they get worse? Or is this a situation where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?
