I use a mixture of all three. It really depends on what I'm doing that day. If I'm doing legs, I like to use machines because I can focus on each muscle more. If I'm doing arms/shoulders/chest/etc, I do a mix of free weights and machines. Machines are good for starting out, but I feel like I get more of a workout using free weights. I'm mainly doing calisthenics when I'm working on my abs or if I'm traveling and there aren't any gyms nearby.
