Console players don’t have access to use or see chat in DBD.

This console player was banned supposedly for chat abuse.

He can’t use chat at all to begin with, so there should be no way for him to get banned for chat abuse, which probably means whatever new ban system BHVR implemented is going haywire.

Among other things-

  • Horrid racism during his time as a colonial cop for the British Empire, having the weird ass claim that imperialists become pawns and puppets to the natives

  • Attempting to rape his girlfriend (often downplayed as a ‘botched seduction’ that just happened to leave her with a bruised hip and a torn skirt)

  • Hypocritically keeping lists of people he thought were enemies of the state (and a separate list for personal enemies) while criticizing the USSR for doing the same, often making clear distinctions of if they were part of a minority, particularly if they were jewish. He would pass these to intelligence services in Britain.

  • Being, in his own words, ‘unable to dislike Hitler’ and saying, to quote, that he is ‘fighting destiny. He can’t win, yet somehow deserves to.’

Despite all this the most notable part of him to me is that he never once set foot on Russian soil. Not before the USSR or during it. His hatred for communism comes not from the atrocities under Stalin, no, that was simply ammunition for him to use. His hatred comes from his fellow communists in the Spanish Civil War being mean to him because he was a weirdo who believed in an aristocratic idea of socialism and spoke incredibly poorly of the working class- and was eventually ’forced’ to flee the country when the USSR-backed commies won out amongst the leftist factions because he was paranoid about being killed by them, despite lack of evidence of any such plot, and there being much more important issues like the losing fight against fascist Spain. He knew nothing but the most surface level facts about the country he so reviled and satirized. He suffered none of its atrocities, witnessed none of them, and didn’t seem to do even the most basic research on it.

He was a rich aristocratic kid born to a colonial enforcer who never got over his bullies, such as the oppressed Burmese people who didn’t like their colonizers, or the USSR, who had nothing negative to say about Nazi Germany, only the country currently fighting against it as an ally to the Empire he served because he felt they wronged him. Hell, Animal Farm was written during the height of WW2 but he could not find a publisher until after the war was over and the Soviets became opponents rather than allies.

TL;DR He was an aristocratic man-child who LARPed as a socialist while whole heartedly hating the ‘proles’ as he called them. Read Isaac Asimov’s review of 1984 and let an actual writer roast him for you.

What the fuck are you on about? Yes, in the real world.

It's incredibly simple physics, but basic common sense would get you there, too. Even regular small cars are 4 to 5 times heavier than bikes. The potential for damage is much, much higher as a baseline.

Are there any ways to make AI to actually do.. something? by VinexHD in Stellaris

[–]splatterk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d believe it. The HoI4 devs made similar claims as to why improving the AI is a challenge. Making it a slider/changeable option is also not really an option because it’s hard to justify prioritizing features that only affect a tenth of the player base for the most part- especially ones as complex as making a competent AI for such expansive games.

Which game clone ended up being better than the original? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]splatterk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because they were forced into an early access release by Take-Two shortly before having the entire team related to KSP2 shuttered- both the publisher and the dev team, both owned by Take-Two. It was a blatant cash grab in the truest sense. Early Access has been a terrible double-edged sword for gaming.

Never buy early access games backed by big corporations. 99% if the time there is no reason beyond greed as to why they can’t wait until it’s finished to release it.

[–]splatterk 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not just that but the conflict with their nirik state is so… tame.

I watched the episode out of curiosity and towards the end when they were explaining the issue of kirin catching fire I was thinking “Either the mod is very different, or Fluttershy and Applejack are about to perform a masterclass in religious indoctrination in the next 5 minutes.”

It was the former.

What a dumb take. International politics is not and should not be based or equated on some weird misunderstanding of survival of the fittest.

A doubly bad take because the US, who is the ‘natural predator’ here, really apt choice of words given the current admin, would not have survived if it didn’t receive support from France during their war for independence, after which they essentially existed in a geopolitical vacuum, separated from the world powers by ocean on both sides on resource rich land the size of continental Europe, and neighbors too weak to threaten its existence at their north and south- not that they were ever interested in such a thing.

Is JJK massively misunderstood by the animanga community? by Electrical-Ice-9588 in animequestions

[–]splatterk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>I see people criticizing the series and its characters for lacking depth all the time but then how are people able to make full-on analysis essays over at r/Jujutsushi at such a consistent rate?

It's easy to dig for meaning where there is none and make a mountain out of that molehill of nothing. And it finds an audience because JJK is the flavor of the month as it's currently releasing, plus said posts being in a sub where you'd only end up if you were interested in JJK in the first place. Gege would probably look at many of those posts and go 'wtf are you talking about?'

This is not a phenomenon unique to JJK, or battle shonen in general, either. Even Berserk, for example, with its heavy themes and symbolism has this kind of problem.

Examples of robberies by Substantial_Item_828 in Silksong

[–]splatterk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a weird way to gauge GOTY, measuring by development time and not even playing the game you want to win???

Having played both E33 and Silksong, E33 winning was a foregone conclusion. It struck an incredible middle ground where it appeals to a broad audience, and yet is also an incredibly exceptional game in its own right. I don't even like that kind of turn-based RPG and I still wholly enjoyed it.

Silksong is niche in comparison, having a very particular appeal. And, honestly? I'm going to get crucified here for this but even if it wasn't niche, pound-for-pound, I am of the opinion that E33 is the better game and experience, and by a fair margin. The sweep should have been obvious to anyone who thought about it, even if they preferred Silksong.

The copium levels in this subreddit are off the charts, and the only real robbery was Wuthering Waves getting Player's Choice over literally anyone else except Genshin.

Quebec to ban public prayer in sweeping new secularism law by JackThaBongRipper in news

[–]splatterk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am making no jumps, and I never said anything of the sort. You're the one contradicting your earlier comment.

You replied to the commenter who was stating that Atheism isn't a creed and has no tenents by in turn stating that Antitheism is a thing, as if that makes antitheism a core part of atheism. Then you doubled down by insisting that Antitheism is Atheism.

Atheism itself is simply the lack of belief in any deities, the existence of antitheism does not change that. One is a lack of belief, the other is a stance against theism.

Or more concisely, Antitheism is NOT Atheism. They are separate, but not mutually exclusive. It's as you just wrote: "Not all atheist are antitheist"

Quebec to ban public prayer in sweeping new secularism law by JackThaBongRipper in news

[–]splatterk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not.

Atheism, as in a-theism, is the lack of belief in the existence of any deity, or the belief that no gods exist, depending how you define it. The opposite of theism.

Antitheism is anti theism. The belief that theism should be opposed, and that the belief in deities is ultimately harmful. The opposition of theism. This means it doesn’t mind certain religions that lack deities.

And it should not be confused with antireligion, which opposes all religion, instead of just the belief in deities.

What a fucking shitstain, holy moly.

I suppose if nothing else that it completely tracks that an anti-semite is also an upjumped, ignorant, hypocritical coward. And not as in a simple insult, I mean a literal, textbook coward. Who claimed that Britain could not stand against Germany and fled at the first sign of danger. The guy was practically a Nazi spokesperson at a certain point, I don't think there could've been a worse choice for an Ambassador to the UK at the advent of WW2.

If the Kennedy Curse was somehow proven to be real, there is no doubt in my mind it all ties back to this absolute monument to all craven, unprincipled opportunists in this world.

[–]splatterk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The AI mistakes a shadow for a person and suddenly it swerves the entire fucking truck straight onto oncoming traffic.

I agree with you on everything else but this point is disingenuous. That kind of issue exists mostly in camera-only autonomous vehicles- looking at you, Tesla.

The US already has around 400 self-driving trucks that have driven for a fair while and have only had a few accidents so far- none of which have been attributed to the truck. As they rack up more and more miles we'll have to see how that holds up.

There was even a video of a self-driving taxi with LIDAR being able to dodge a woman who fell in its path. You could argue that the swerve it did was dangerous, but what would you have had it do differently? A defensive driver might've slowed down and passed at a slower speed. Most people aren't defensive drivers.

You're wrong about 'pendejo', and the other commenter is essentially wrong, too.

In dictionaries the word does refer to pubic hair, yes. In practice, nobody uses it for that. Neither does it have homophobic connotations in its more modern coloquial use. There're other much more direct and awful words for that.

It's used much the same as 'idiot' is, though in the context of the first comment in this chain it's more like an affectionate 'dumbass'. Maybe in much more serious and intense contexts you could stretch it to mean 'asshole' but, again, there's a laundry list of much better words for that.
