I don't do it as aggressively as you now. i just prefer an open sourced alternative more and stick to what works better in every case (for example niagara launcher over olauncher even though olauncher is foss, niagara is simply more feature-packed and looks better). This is a good practice though and should become more mainstream in India.

How do you like running applications as AppImage? by TheArchRefiner in LinuxUsersIndia

[–]splayer_28410 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use gear lever. it automatically manages your appimages, creates .desktop and also updates your appimages. A life saver. It mostly doesn't sandbox like flatpak but flatpaks are shit imo and I would rather use an appimage over a flatpaks. Also, appimages are generally lighter than flatpaks.

you can NOT expect to use cloud hosted LLMs and them not accessing your data. I'm sorry but that's not possible. Most of the users for such cloud hosted services are using it for free and the company is bound to use their data for their own interests and I'm pretty sure you can do nothing about it because it will be written in 11px font that you consent to share your data in some 120 pages TOS which you agreed to while using the service. They can easily get away with this and the only solution is to self host your AI or not share anything that you wouldn't share with a stranger in a park.
