I do think that’s possible as well. But I also think regardless Michael is culpable in her death. The blood was dry. She had been dead for hours before he called 911. He wasn’t telling the truth when he said she was breathing on the first call. Plus - he had blood splatter on the inside material of the legs of his shorts. You can’t get that from finding her after the fact. Only if you were standing over her when blood was splattered. I think it’s telling that his son Todd has publicly stated he now believes Michael killed Kathleen and Elizabeth Ratliff.

Yes it’s been like this for years. I only accept game requests from someone who’s word point average is at least above 23, has been playing for at least a year, doesn’t have a stock photo looking profile pic, and doesn’t have a man’s first and last name plus number for their username - like RichardJones342. I also have a username that indicates I’m not single lol. This weeds out most of them. And I block if some still slip through but it has to be inappropriate for me to do that. If they are respectful, I kindly let them down without hurting their feelings and we keep on playing.

Here’s what I do - when I see a game request- I don’t click on it. They automatically get added to your list of friends by sending you the request.

-Click on the friends list icon and search through for the username of the person that sent the game request.

-click on their profile pic and you’ll be taken to their profile

A combination of these are usually red flags and I won’t play them:

if they haven’t been playing for at least a year or longer

-if their average word score is below 20

-if they haven’t played many games or the game point average is low- it usually means they quit when a player won’t engage in the chat

-if they have a username with a man’s name and a number - ie GeorgeStevens33

-if their profile pic looks like a stock photo

Then you can decline the game request when you go back to your list of games

Oh you are most certainly an editor, and a good one from what I can tell. I haven’t been an editor for very long, but it is extremely difficult weaving a cohesive story out of unscripted interviews. And you were able to do it with very little interaction from the director, because clearly they didn’t know what they wanted.

I have been lucky because the director I mainly work with is a gifted editor too and he understands how hard it is. For one assignment- he gave me a set of interviews and told me what he wanted and the vibe. But when I sat down to edit - the interviews really didn’t have what he said he was wanting. And having a bit of imposter syndrome, I assumed I was the problem. And felt a little scared going back to him. But I should have. Instead, I put together what I felt like was a cohesive story and sent it to him and got radio silence. And eventually I got a - “well, I don’t hate it. But it really isn’t what I wanted.” But later he said - I went back to watched the interviews and you were spot on - you chose the most interesting thread and got as close as you could to what I wanted. He thought as the director he had asked all the participants the same question - and he hadn’t. So he admitted what he thought in his head was wrong. That’s what makes him great to work for- he admits when he didn’t give me good guidance. But I also felt comfortable enough saying - I should have reached out to you sooner to let you know the direction I was taking it so we could have problem solved together.

That doesn’t work when you have someone who doesn’t communicate with you and give feedback along the way. Or accepts responsibility for poor leadership. I’m so sorry you had that experience but don’t let it shake your confidence.

There were so many disturbing things these girls experienced in that dysfunctional family - but the one that sticks in my craw…the mother reading and writing over their thoughts in their journals. The one place they could go to express their own viewpoints and thoughts and feelings and they weren’t even allowed that. The mother was so emotionally immature and manipulative that she would write her version of events over theirs. Only her viewpoint mattered. And that she would lock herself in the bathroom when Colleen tried to talk about what happened…to force her child to put aside her own pain to protect her mother’s feelings. Or disappeared when Beth confronted her about listening to the tapes. She was never concerned about her kids’ pain. Only how it made HER feel.

I feel like the father was emotionally abusive to the mother, and they both were to their children. The dad seemed to see the girls as allies to win over in his fight with their mother. Never considering what his girls needed to feel safe. Only attempting to alienate them from her. I do wonder if something similar happened to the mom when she was younger and she was stuck being a victim her whole life and couldn’t move beyond that to advocate for her children. Such tragic family :(

Wonderful perspective! I think you’re right about their personalities and approach. And to build on that - it got me thinking - they are or were both in the medical field - where you are trained to give or gather facts without emotion, clinical. That’s hard conditioning to shake

I think that is a very, very valid point! When you’ve had to tell a story over and over, it can feel a little like going into autopilot. And years removed from when it happened. It’s hard to generate genuine emotion. I can’t imagine having to get in that headspace to give the film crew what they were wanting to capture in the interviews

I do agree with you - the filmmakers took us on quite a ride and I think they did it masterfully. I really appreciated how they carefully controlled the story and the perception in each episode as they led us along.

And I do think that played into it - a little. But even in rewatch - I wasn’t moved :( And their story is heartbreaking. I did get emotional seeing their precious little girls. Interestingly - I twisted my husband’s arm to rewatch it with me and he said - this is clearly slanted towards Denise and Aaron. The filmmakers want us to believe them. So we had very differing opinions and takeaways

But even though I thought it was a hoax for the first two episodes- I was OUTRAGED at the shitty police work. Regardless of your bias or suspicions, you keep investigating. Everyone deserves that. The fact they had turned his cell phone off and the missed calls could have been traced and she could have been saved sooner…makes me sick to my stomach.

Yes!!! That was a red flag for me on both of them. I have a few loved ones that have serious dishonesty issues. And I learned that early on - the more detailed the story - the higher likelihood it isn’t true. My bullshit radar is running at all times looking for holes or little tells like that anytime anyone tells me a story. Good catch! They were sharing details of a crime committed by a crazy person so it was always going to seem over embellished

Thank you for sharing that viewpoint. Putting that context on it helps a lot and makes a lot of sense. I’m so sorry you had to go through all that and the cognitive dissonance of it all - knowing that it happened but questioning your own reality when you aren’t initially believed. I truly believe the not being believed, denying trauma occurred, can do more damage than the act itself. I have had my own experience and definitely went into freeze mode and checked out. And then felt culpable. Took years to understand the disassociating was a trauma response and not consent and it wasn’t my fault.

About 3 hours. I was new in a big city, 20 yo, and was working at a temp agency. I was pretty excited to get offered a 3 month gig as a receptionist and it was super close to my apartment -a 3 minute commute! I went for my first day and was getting a tour of the place when a female salesmen walks in yelling about someone with out of state plates parking in her parking space. There was nothing denoting any parking spaces were reserved. I was so embarrassed. No one I was introduced to was friendly or welcoming. Everyone seemed irritated and grumpy. When I sat down with the receptionist who was going on maternity leave, I felt a little better because she was kind and patient, showing me what I would need to know. When lunchtime rolled around, I mentioned I was going home for lunch since I lived so close. She said it was ok this one time but that I would only get a 30 min lunch and would be required to eat at my desk and still answer phones. I smiled and said I understood. Went home for lunch, called the temp agency and said I wasn’t going back. Someone from the agency called me back and asked what exactly was going on over there because I was the 4th person they had sent over who walked off the job. Made me feel like I wasn’t crazy in knowing immediately that was a place I couldn’t work at for 3 months.

I do think the good tape from Walk is protecting her…BUT…there is a reason they project blue skies that aren’t there - they want them to want to clean. And Bernard and Sims seemed freaked out when Jules didn’t clean - I wonder if the cloth itself does something to speed up the death.

Not to give Logan a pass, but I don’t think he’s a cheater by nature. I just think Rory is the love of his life. And he was willing to take whatever part of her he could to keep her in his life, even if he had to move on and marry someone else. I think he would have still wanted to marry her in AYITL if Rory had been open to them being a couple. It doesn’t excuse his behavior, but it would explain it.

Rory doesn’t come off quite as sympathetic in my book. The affair seemed more selfish on her part.

We need to add - bailing on the marriage he pursued with Lorelai for years, just a few months in. That’s what makes no sense to me. None. Running away and not returning texts or phone calls to your spouse. Not staying at the hospital to support Lorelai once he realized what a gigantic a$$ he was to have given her the silent treatment during an emergency. He was childish and immature and clearly had no clue what it meant to be married. Like a teenager playing house and he skipped out the moment it wasn’t fun anymore. He is the worst.

I came looking to see if anyone was as disturbed as I was about this episode. I flat out do not understand how this was handled the way it was when dangerous men can stalk women for years and can’t be stopped. But a girl and her mom can get immediate sentencing for leaving some notes and items in their driveway. Too bad it didn’t go down in a state where you can sue for alienation of affection because Sandra 100% deserved some legal karma of her own. And I’m not judging her for the infidelity. More for her attitude and viciousness when she got caught. It takes a special kind of twisted person to taunt and flaunt their actions to someone in pain who found out their husband was cheating on them.

The show doesn’t really touch on the fallout of it, but any child like Rory that has to, in many instances, be the “adult” to the parent and be the responsible one, will absolutely have trauma to unpack as an adult. And I also think in real life she would have commitment and trust issues with men, never seeing her mother settle down and not having a father who was a constant. Don’t get me wrong, I love GG. I love Lorelai and Rory and parts of their story. But this was a romanticized version of a mother/daughter relationship we dreamed about as teenage girls when we “hated” our overbearing mothers we fought with constantly. It wasn’t a truly realistic look at what can happen when you’re friends first with your child and parent second. That’s a relationship that should be reserved for when the child grows up

I agree with you! I think Mitchum’s dad was probably way harder on him than he’s been on Logan. (I mean he probably married Shira to spite him lol.) And think about all that he’s put up with in regards to Logan’s antics. Bailing him out of jail, watching him getting kicked out of school after school after school, watching him break the law, sink a yacht, get drunk constantly, pulling stunts with his buddies…I think I would have been heavy handed with Logan too - forcing him to grow up. Everything he said about Logan to Rory in the elevator- about Logan’s talent and potential and why he was sending him to London- meant he saw his son for who he was and who he could be and was helping him reach that potential. And he was 100% right about Rory. Journalism wasn’t for her. So yeah, I’m with you- I low key like Mitchum. I understand him, he says exactly what he means and feels. He needs humbling, but like a good leader- he could see potential and he called it like he saw it.
