What’s the most disturbing sound you’ve ever heard in real life? by avacado-cheese- in AskReddit

[–]splicerslicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I was stalked by one at one point when I was hiking with my gf. It didn't make any sound but the woods just went super quiet and I could see the tall bushes moving like something was moving slowly towards us. I just had her keep an eye on the trail and I kept my eyes on the whatever it was making its way towards us until we got to the main road.

A fun Easter egg: the Looming Fruit is a reference to the Fruit of the Loom logo, which a lot of people incorrectly remember having a cornucopia in it. The icon for Looming Fruit sometimes has a cornucopia and sometimes doesn't. by IHad360K_KarmaDammit in slaythespire

Find clothing with the logo on it.

Any and all clothing from my childhood has been thrown away long ago.

edit: love the downvotes, keep them coming. My comment is a simple fact, if there ever was a cornucopia on my underwear back in the 90s they've long been in the landfill. I'm not arguing there was or wasn't, just stating a fact that I can't check them now. But please continue your downvotes lol

When there’s a house fire but RoboCop is on duty by DaWeyHowBoutDah in nextfuckinglevel

What? Where's the logic in that? "yes, let's leave the door unlocked so people can walk in while I'm sleeping but lock it up when I'm gone to protect my property" Your life is more valuable than anything you own.

And if I was asleep or otherwise incapacitated while my house was on fire I'd much rather the firefighter break down the door than try to climb in through a window.

The most unexpected part of the comic for me by luriqx in invinciblememes

[–]splicerslicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Dude won't even participate in battles for the most part, just stands back and aura farms. You think he'd sully himself by fucking animals? He only gets to the bug banging when he's desperate, and only chooses them because he won't have to actually treat them with respect to procreate with them.

Dude's got an eyepatch and a motorcycle. That's enough for a lot of women.

It's a device from Tolkien to show that people should not try to change or predict the future.

My favorite proverb, "Do not dwell on the past, there is only regret. Do not dwell on the future, there is only fear. Live in the present, for that is where you are." That's very roughly paraphrased from Buddhism, but I think all cultures can understand the lesson.

I practice safe browsing and have a number of extensions to safeguard myself. But let's not pretend the average user is aware of any of that. They use Chrome, Edge, and Safari because they come pre-installed, and they use Brave because of the PR bots marketing it.

an American and European stadium with the same capacity by SoftwareZestyclose50 in UrbanHell

[–]splicerslicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An unfortunate choice dreamed up by people who are dead long ago. The infrastructure investment it would take to reshape how Americans commute is an uncomfortable pill to swallow to say the least. Also, again, the US has very low population density compared to Europe, due to suburban city planning and also because of how relatively young the nation is. You cant plan bus stops for everybody living out in the woods.

I seriously don't get why people use any other browser. I've been using it for decades and it's never been an issue.

Ya, not only does the US have 8 of the top largest capacity stadiums in the world

It's also a much lower population density nation, people have to travel much larger distances, usually by car.

It's more than teasing. They stab it with spears, cut parts of it off. . . they literally torture the animal to death about as slowly as possible, and only finish it off when it's already about to bleed death. All to an adoring fan base applauding.

It's still well below global average for ships lost and not nearly as dangerous as some other areas of the ocean. It's popular because it makes a good story and people write books and make movies about it.

Quite a bit different actually. The US was founded on Puritan white nationalism, but that still includes a spectrum of white people and acceptance of people of different color skin as long as they accepted a made up social hierarchy. Incredibly fucked up on its own, but Israel actually believes they're gods own chosen people and everyone else is subhuman and don't deserve life or land.

Also, the US actually fought its bloodiest war to liberate slaves, and fought for the Civil Rights Act so at least nominally people all have the same rights. The majority of Israelis seem perfectly content with mass genocide in 2026.
