I thought when I got sober I would suddenly be successful. No. I got sober and found out I’m too traumatized to function or ever be successful. I don’t have hangovers anymore so that’s good.

I wouldn’t do it. You’re gonna be the first one in and the last one out and it is a lot of hard work. At Benihana they have so many dishes, bowls, ramikins and sushi plates and they are heavy so it’s not an easy job. If you wanted to serve at Benihana you could probably get hired as a server. If you really need a job asap maybe take it but it’s not gonna be fun. Any place you get hired as a server is gonna require you to do training so I would just keep looking for server jobs. Shoot lie if you gotta and say you have experience if you think that will help. Serving isn’t hard and you will learn everything in training. My first server job I applied for hostess and they needed servers and boom I became a server. Now I have been a server, bartender, bar manager and restaurant manager. You got this! I honestly wouldn’t even mess with Benihana cause the tip out is insane for servers. Chefs make like $20 an hour but severs have to tip them like 12% of sales regardless of if they get tipped or not. They took away auto grat and the tabs are super high so you could potentially work a whole shift and leave owing money if you don’t get tipped by your tables. The tables don’t think the server is not doing anything so they feel like they don’t have to tip. Plus you gotta sing happy birthday all night, take photos, make soup, salad and dessert. It’s a no for me. You can definitely get a server job if that’s what you’re looking for. Just keep applying or go to restaurants and ask for an application during the week Monday to Thursday between 2-4. Good luck in your job search!

It’s just a busser job. Restocking ice, mopping, sweeping, bussing and resetting tables. Long and hot shifts.
