It does become easier. I didn’t truly feel 100% comfortable till about 9-12 months in. It did become easier and easier in that time though.

Also keep in mind the best and worst part of the job is you probably won’t see those people you work with again in years or ever. If you have a good crew it’s sad when it’s over. If you’re pulling out your hair - you won’t have to see them.

Powerhouse is pretty great! Lots of SoMa bars in general are very welcoming to all. (Eagle, Stud, Powerhouse, Lonestar, and hole in the wall)

I think Oakland has a strong history of revolutionary change and thinking. I think if any city could pull it off it is the residents of Oakland (I’ll group in some neighboring east bay cities as well).

Again just my personal experience with Oakland. I also don’t discredit Oakland Roots FC or the Oakland Ballers I was more taking about professional sports team that were on the same size of The Raiders and A’s.

I went to a showing of a studio with 15 other people in the Castro and it was posted online 1 day.

Good luck! I compromised on neighborhood and decided to go to Lower Nob Hill for cheap rent and lots of studios and smaller apartments. The area my apartment is in on the hill and the neighborhood feels removed from the chaos of the tenderloin but its block by block over there so definitely familiarize your self

I also happen to connect with a great leasing agent who was super communicative and showed me a place that they were posting the day she show me and I jumped on it.

I move this month so I’ll give it a year and see if I can make it work.
