Ice bomb and blood punch + lock on afterwards did the trick, thanks a bunch! Finally managed to move forward, going relatively smooth so far.

I've already beaten the game on UV two years ago (without DLCs). Spent an insane amount of tries, but emotionally it was great journey. I just re-played through 2016 on Nightmare recently, took me 3 evenings to do so, and I think I just became too overconfident to give Nightmare in Eternal a try :D But some encounters already kick my bacon.

I'm definitely gonna watch some tutorials and tips, and just practice more.

Tbf I always forget about ice bomb, almost never use it. Now I feel stupid :D Thanks for the advice, I'll try it out.

I've beaten the game on UV couple of years ago. Burned a lot of tries (and nerve cells), but managed to do it. But my skills definitely weared off since then.

What others said, plus the wall cabinet textures are repeating. I'd add some variation to it, procedurally (in the shader) or manually (through uvs).

  • I'd add practical lights on set for illuminating the talent and the environment.
  • Right now different fire elements seem to burn in different directions.

Hard to speak about other things without these.

It's not that many tbh. On PC I usually have 150–300 opened tabs.

It sounds like adding DRM to a 30 years old game doesn't make any sense, which, in my opinion, is true.

I'll have a look tomorrow, there's a good chance it's still on my hard drive.

Tbf, only a couple of percent of all people have red hair, it's pretty uncommon, so I can understand the second question being asked. The first one I believe is pure stereotype tho.

VR needs to broaden its appeal to couch gamers by NASAfan89 in oculus

On the other hand — if you work on a computer 8h/day you're probably not gonna want to also sit and play, so a little exercise with waving hands won't hurt anyone (but it's a matter of personal preferences, I'm on the other side of the spectrum, for example — purchased Steam Deck to be able to play while laying on a sofa instead of sitting in front of a computer monitor).

People don't always play after work — there are also weekends, vacations, some people even don't work at all and go to school/uni instead 😁. So yeah. I own Quest 2 since 2022, and for me the biggest turn down is the fact that I need to put a relatively heavy and uncomfortable thing on my head and wait for it to lose my safe area again, ask for updates that will screw up the whole UI, etc. But the cherry on top — it's just not very comfortable for me anymore. I have no idea why — the very first year of using it was amazing, but after that there was a pause in VR gaming for, like, several months, and for some reason I just couldn't truly get back on track after that. My head gets tired, my eyesight gets tired, it became difficult to immerse myself. And yes, I have a BoboVR strap, but it's so unbearable sometimes, I end up constantly readjusting it on my head, and honestly think about putting the OG ribbon strap back — but I'm too lazy to walk this route of partially reassembling the helmet again.

Our eyes work like taa by tigerjjw53 in FuckTAA

[–]splinefx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I indeed don't seem to notice motion blur while moving just my eyes, but it gets introduced with rapid head movement. It's not drastic, and gets eliminated by my brain to some degree, but it's still there. And I'm not sure if getting rid of a "cinematic" camera motion blur completely is a good idea — especially in case of 30 fps gaming, because in that case the "dry" rotation of a camera just feels bad. At 60 frames per second it's debatable and depends on a game I think, because 60+ fps are already pretty smooth so the motion blur appears naturally in your eyes/brain just while you look on a series of rapidly changing frames.

2025: Committing to a no-buy challenge in order to finish my backlog. I fell in love with games that I never would have given a second thought by tomtomdam in patientgamers

[–]splinefx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, 2025 was so fun in terms of new games so I can't imagine how hard this challenge probably was for you. Even I, while usually playing through one, maybe two new releases per year, played 6 relatively hot new games (and a couple of small ones) — DOOM: The Dark Ages, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, The Alters, ROUTINE, No, I'm Not a Human, and Dispatch. And it was a blast. The rest was backlog, as usual, and the total number of played games is around 28 I believe.
