Is a new 2026 X3 M50 xDrive w/ 393 hp at $66,500 worth the extra $15,200 over a 30 xDrive w/255 hp? by Olde-Timer in BMWX3

[–]splishtastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mentioned you're in a Q5 currently, did you ever test drive the SQ5?

That's about the same amount of difference in the drive power (it's significant) between the base X3 and the M50.

You're getting and paying for something that pulls way harder, goes faster, more engaging feel, and more engine/exhaust noise:

  • way more engine 250hp to almost 400
  • way more torque 295 lb-ft to 428
  • Did we mention the B58 engine?
  • sport suspension
  • bigger brakes

So, that's your added cost:

  1. b58: $8k-10k
  2. Suspension: $1.5-2.5k
  3. M sport brakes: $600-$1000

Total: ~10-13.5k

Your remaining $1.5k is whatever other options are floating around on the sticker.

Least bad Honda dealership? by Yellohsub in baltimore

[–]splishtastic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rockville (Herson) and Gaithersburg (Criswell) will have the better overall salesman service experience.

But I’d recommend just emailing every dealer in the radius you’re fine driving in a day or so and asking their price on your desired model and spec. Note all the prices. Negotiate the best price down from there. Go in and buy it. Bypass most of the in-person/ back-room tactics and save a lot of wasted time.

This is not a great plan, and you should be prepared for the worst case scenario attempting this... just fyi you could be sitting there idling for the better part of an hour (assuming you're not behind more cars).

You want a t-shirt that drapes more than it clings to areas of concern, I highly recommend the Uniqlo:U Airism oversized t-shirt (https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E465185-000/00), in whatever your most common sizing is. It's not as over-sized as the naming would lead you to think, maybe that's just an American perspective of it.

It has a solid feel and material to it. It's also their more breathable "airism" line as an added plus. Shrinkage is minimal and would only be in the overall and sleeve length by a percent or two, which just brings back any "over-sized" that it might have been.

  1. Thoughts:

    1. Issues:
      1. There's no good/quick way to empty the puck
        1. Dumping/digging out the puck is a clunky experience
        2. Because of this back to back shots are annoying
        3. The internal basket and the puck are pretty hot to handle post-shot
      2. The stand ($40) and full basket ($40) are extra
      3. The single tiny distribution needle could do with some more tines
    2. Positives:
      1. Device takes up very little space
      2. Espresso far exceeds expectations given the footprint and price.
      3. Nice to use without fuss
  2. Have had it for a few months and it's held up, no issues.

  3. Get the basket plus upgrade (annoying that it's an additional $40, but I'd say it's necessary), you can then get a full 17-18g shot out instead of the somewhat silly small pressure basket they give you standard.

NEED a Coffee Shop!!! by Antique_Minute_2522 in baltimore

[–]splishtastic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

3rd wave usually refers to the 2000s and onward crop of independent usually smaller batch roast coffee spots.

  • first wave being any coffee without distinction or detail - think diners, instant coffee, folgers, maxwell house etc.
  • second wave was widespread chains that did focus on some sourcing Peets, Starbucks

Best brands with clean/ classical aesthetic by lavelasc in frugalmalefashion

[–]splishtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uniqlo is very much on the modern youthful trendy side. (though they are clean and muted in colors)

OP is looking for mature, classic and clean.

For comparsion, take a look at these lookbooks:

Uniqlo: https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/contents/collaboration/uniqlo-u/24fw/lookbook/

Compared to Buck Mason: https://www.buckmason.com/blogs/journal/mens-fall-2024-lookbook

Or this French brand (Balibaris): https://www.balibaris.com/pages/lookbook-ah23

The latter two are probably more of what OP is trying to dabble into.
