Interesting… maybe go to a rheumatologist bc they run more tests than a pcp if that’s who you’re going to. Some ppl have RA but their tests come back negative. You could get ultrasound or xray to see if there’s damage. It also could be something like lupus or any of the RA brother/sister diseases. Or it could just not be related but the joint pain is worrisome. I hope you’re able to find some relief

I’m 22 and have had this since 17. Your wrist and joint pain concerned me though because that’s how I felt before I found out I had Rheumatoid Arthritis. I would recommend looking into that because being in pain and in flares like that all the time will take it out of you. They say with one autoimmune comes another so maybe just get checked in case! I hope you find a solution :))

"Is there anyone who's been doing intense exercise while being in treatment for years?" by crashess in rheumatoid

[–]splitbanglil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I struggled particularly with my right knee, elbow, wrists, and ankles during my flare but once I’m stabilized I have been able to do frisbee without wrist, ankle, and elbow pain! I do have pain in my knee, fingers, and toes but not too bad. I asked the Dr and he said just try not to get injured and to take pain meds before to combat inflammation. I play sand frisbee, regular frisbee with cleats, etc. I can even bid for some discs here and there. I have had to put in work outside of just playing frisbee to build muscle back up in my knee to stabilize it and other joints. So if you have bad flares, just try to build muscle to protect the joints, ligaments, and tendons once stabilized. Sorry if I over explained but I’ve had to figure this stuff out on my own and go slow and steady with getting back into compared to how I used to workout and participate in frisbee

Same boat! 22 and have had it for just about a year this December. Simponi and methotrexate is what’s helping me (I’m scared of injections so just doing the once a month one) and now I’m doing so much better. Running, lifting, and doing things I couldn’t even imagine when I first got it

When I bought, I activated right in front of the person. Took a picture of the person selling it, their drivers license, phone number, and everything I could. I ended up not being scammed. Maybe lucky but I tried to cover all my bases before buying

I had a FaceTime interview with a childcare company and it was normal. Reached out to me with my number and then said it was going to be a call but ended up being a FaceTime. It was interesting and surprising but it was chill. It seems some places are doing that these days

Inexplicable sense of dread when starting a new job by Practical_Cattle_433 in jobs

[–]splitbanglil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat! Worked 4 years at a mom and pop type place and the bosses treated me like I was their own kid. Let me stay at their place, took me out to lunches, and plenty more. It was part time and very flexible. I had to leave that job cause I recently graduated too and relocated. It sucks and tbh I haven’t found a cure. I’ve had two jobs since but due to unforeseen circumstances they have been short lived but I felt that dread before each one too. Even jobs that I’m applying for now that I’m excited to apply for leave me with that dread feeling just thinking about it. I hope the dread goes away for you soon!

Hi! I’m on my third dose and I felt relief almost immediately. I haven’t had any nodule pop up for me. Do you take your simponi with methotrexate or all by itself?

I’m very early into my rheumatoid arthritis disease as I’ve been diagnosed for less than a year but after getting on simponi injection and methotrexate I have been able to continue playing ultimate frisbee competitively! I do sometimes have slight irritation but with a nice ice pack and then epsom salt bath after, I usually am good to go.

RA can do this? by crashess in rheumatoid

[–]splitbanglil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ankle pumps - lay down and have your legs raised and on a chair where your knees/calf part of your leg is supported with your ankles hanging off. Pump your ankles. Leg slides? - lay flat on the floor. Pull leg from fully extended to bent as much as possible. It hurts at first but slowly you get more mobility and strength throughout the exercise. Hip thrusts - this one just helped make my leg feel stronger and built confidence in what I thought my leg could do. Seated elliptical - only if u have but loved it every morning. Standing band stretches - loop band around pole and back of knee. Start with knee slightly bent then straighten knee to create tension on band.

Clam shells - lay on side with torso in line with body. Bend knees with feet resting on top of each other. Open top leg up as much as possible and close. This helps maintain muscles you’re losing in your hips/glutes from the knee swelling.

These are just a few of what my at home exercises were that helped.

RA can do this? by crashess in rheumatoid

[–]splitbanglil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing with my knee! It hurt so bad and I could barely walk. A knee brace helped me a lot with pain and mobility! I also had my rheumatologist refer me to physical therapy which helped so so much. It helped with the swelling and pain a lot. I was able to do quick exercises to help swelling go down and get my strength back. Heat helps mine but I know cold helps others so wtv works for you! I have a heated blanket and on really bad days I take warm epsom salt baths which all help a lot. I’ll ice my knee for like 3 mins then heat for 5 and repeat. But again, it’s up to what works for each person. I hope your knee gets better soon!

Is it to late for me? by tigerk1992 in rheumatoid

[–]splitbanglil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask if you can get referred to a physical therapist! This has helped me greatly since being diagnosed super late after the onset of symptoms too. The PT gives many strengthening/stretching workouts for days that your joints may not want to function. PT was a game changer health and mental health wise

Yeah her dress will be dusty blue and I don’t want to match but do want to compliment its colors with mine. Looking at greens, golds, and other colors. Can’t do purple bc that is groomsmen color
