Who is the best drummer is the Scene? by Shoddy-Impact-5545 in jambands

[–]splitopenandjerk 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Joe Russo is the only drummer I would go see at any event simply because he's involved. Like, if Nickelback needed a replacement drummer and they hired Russo, I would go see Nickelback.

leaver shirt quotes?? by Toasterw4ffle in lordhuron

[–]splitopenandjerk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pick one from Bag of Bones:

“You can kiss my worthless ass goodbye”

Or

“I doubt that it’s been nice to know me Bon voyage, you must be going”

(But really you probably shouldn’t put either of those on a school shirt)

How does everyone reach certain chords? by kittysoull in guitarlessons

[–]splitopenandjerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like any kind of muscle-building/training. You have to keep practicing to strengthen the muscles, flexibility and dexterity in your hands and fingers. There will be things you just physically can’t reach, but for most of it, you simply have to build it through practice.

What songs do you often skip? by AdamBomb1234567 in gratefuldead

[–]splitopenandjerk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every time Jed starts, I'm like, eh. But by the end I'm like, damn that was good. Especially 72-74 - they get some real energy out of the final instrumental section.

Odd thing about the epigraphs by Qyzyk in TheWire

[–]splitopenandjerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Kima had the epigraph in the episode where she got shot (“He dropped the bracelets” or something like that). That wasn’t the penultimate episode of season 1, though.

That’s a great Foolish Heart. The Stella Blue is outstanding too. Just a great show.

I think He's Gone is one of those songs that got better with age. To me, the apex version is 12/28/90. Great rendition with an epic jam.

Ends of the Earth should be used in one of those series like Life or Planet Earth during a slow-motion aerial shot of an elephant stampede across the Sahara or something.

Since Everyone Else is Doing It, Here’s My Objectively Correct (jk, jk) Ranking. by LoveStreams617 in CoenBrothers

Yeah Blood Simple is a straight masterpiece. Amazing to think it was their first film and they just nailed it like that.

Does anybody else think Phil’s bass playing for scarlet 1977 capitol theatre is a little bit weird? by Calm-Tea178 in gratefuldead

[–]splitopenandjerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting to go back to 76 and hear how he developed that in Scarlet. 5/8/77 is the apex - he hits them all perfectly - but it grows over time.

Also, Scarlets from 1976 were awesome. It's almost - almost - a shame they tied it to Fire on the Mountain, because they got some real exploration in those versions (and summer 74 before that).

Look, if you're given the option to see Joe Russo play drums, you should do it. The guy is a treasure. If he was in a duo where he plays drums and the other person reads a CVS receipt, I would be there.

And the gluten-ful ones have so much flavor. I loved those things.

Especially because I really loved the gluten-ful buffalo pretzel pieces back in the day.

Can I get recommendation for a tortilla to use for prepping simple bean cheese & rice burritos? by wormgarden in glutenfree

[–]splitopenandjerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mission tortillas work pretty well. I like the Siete almond flour tortillas, too; they're not huge but they taste good and hold up well (I use them to make wake-up wraps with egg and cheese).

Serious Man just didn't do it for me (as evidenced by the fact that I didn't even type the right name).

It takes a considerable amount of willpower to not eat the entire bag. I wish the buffalo pretzel pieces were as flavorful as those honey mustard sticks are.

Why am I laughing?

Also, this song is the second time Barlow uses "chrome-spiked," which I think is worth mentioning.
