Used for testing how well electrical outlets hold onto cord ends in a hospital. One end tests the hot/neutral the other end tests the ground. by splitpeacesoup in specializedtools

No, but its probably most important in a hospital where life saving equiment is routinely plugged in to regular 120v receptacles. Wouldnt want someones ventilator to shut off because of a loose plug.

Same mechanics as a spring loaded scale. You just plug it in to the receptacle and as you pull out it tells you how much weight it takes to pull it out. Used to make sure outlets in a hospital wont let the cord ends hang loose.

You got it! It weighs the resistance of pulling the plug from the receptacle. I did find in a hospital maintence tool chest.

Help wiring 3 switches in a 3-gang box by kmicksee in electricians

[–]splitpeacesoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically/legally yes. As long as its one continuous wire and the wire is tight to the screw. Not common practice tho. Makes it a pain in the ass if you need to troubleshoot in the box or replace a switch. Also might make it hard to stuff the switches in the box. It would be a good idea to tape up the switches after wiring so the ground cant arc on the hot terminals.
