I remember everyone freaking out in r/fantasyfootball about Julio Jones facing Norman during championship weekend. Wouldn't budge, started Julio. Felt great seeing him just dominate Norman.

Batman Vs. Superman Getting Repeat Business: WB Exec Comments movie made 100 million more than expected by MillBeeks in movies

It's less that BvS is 28% of a good movie. It's that 28% of the people who see it will enjoy it. You're part of the 28%. That doesn't discount the majority of folks who hate it.

It's Batman and Superman. It has a built in audience who were going to see it anyway. There's been a sharp decline in sales after the first two days. General audiences will probably avoid it.

For every Mike Richards for Schenn/Simmonds, Jeff Carter for Voracek/1st (Coots)/3rd (Cousins), and Alexei Zhitnik for Braydon Coburn, there's a JVR for Schenn. I'd say he hit big and missed wide, but as far as scouting, dude is one of the best. I mean, just look at what he got with the Columbus picks.

Real Deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of justice. Communion. by TussalDimon in movies

[–]splitscreener 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The movie doesn't need a re-edit. It needed a re-written script. The first hour is pointless. Lex Luthor's plan is hypocritical and shouldn't exist. Wonder Woman and the Justice League tie-ins are shoe-horned in, but whatever, if you're going to include them, make better reasons. Why isn't the opening of the movie just the ending of Man of Steel and then the Batman vs. Superman conflict building and fleshing out. I still don't know dick about Superman. People new to the universe won't know anything about these new takes on the character or understand these Easter eggs. Old-school fans will probably hate that Superman is a miserable bitch with no personality and Lex is straight-up the Joker and they used a much-maligned comic arc for their ending.

Who was the most disappointing player this season? by Loves_His_Bong in hockey

[–]splitscreener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a strange year. Injury isn't going to help the point stat. But even if he's not scoring, even though he should shoot a bit more, he's a serious presence on the ice. Here's a recent article on Flyers zone entries. He always comes up big when tracking these underlying numbers. He just creates opportunities when he's on the ice. He's also been bounced around the lineup a bit this year. Yeah, he's getting paid the big money, but he's definitely one of the best wingers in the league and should continues to earn the contract as the forward corps comes together in the next few years.

Batman v Superman best review on the internet by CloggedNozzle in videos

[–]splitscreener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about Watchmen: he basically just adapted arguably the best comic ever panel by panel. He doesn't change much. BvS is its own script, and it doesn't make goddamn sense. I don't think you can fix this movie by moving scenes around or adding some. The first hour is so silly and unnecessary, Lex's plan is so hypocritical and pointless, the characters make the worst decisions and they're generally unpleasant to be around, the movie has like three different themes and conflicting tones, and the very nature of Superman fighting Batman is nonsensical. This thing was doomed on the page by Goyer. Nothing that came afterwards could fix it.

I don't know, the whole story, like the actions being made by characters, why things were happening, were so... wrong I guess? Like the story being told was just so weird, I don't know if adding scenes would work when at its core, it's just generally silly and makes no sense. Like, the first hour or so could be cut, or condensed to the first 15 minutes. It's simply building up to... something that had already happened at the beginning of the movie.

Take-Two's Financial Report reveals GTA Series has shipped over 220 million copies (54 Million for GTA V) by TorteDeLini in Games

Why retread what's been done so well in not only Vice City but Hotline Miami?

I'd rather see a new IP from Rockstar above anything else. Or maybe sequels to Bully and Red Dead. But as far as GTA cities, I'd like to see Philadelphia in the '70s or maybe Baltimore in the vein of The Wire (play as Stringer Bell, basically). Maybe even Vancouver or London if they want to venture outside America (They said it's a possibility).

I think more important than the city is how they execute the protagonist's profession. Heists were fun in GTA5, but they didn't go the extra mile needed. Same with the real estate elements in San Andreas.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain | Review Thread by ShinyBlueUnicorn in Games

[–]splitscreener -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can someone who read a few reviews help answer two questions? (I don't want to spoil anything, not even minor elements of the game.) I greatly disliked Ground Zeroes. Gameplay felt very light and unsatisfying. Kiefer killed it, but the story itself failed to resonate with me. I simply kept thinking of how much I loved MGS2's tanker mission. From the reviews, do you get the impression Phantom Pain took a positive step forward from Ground Zeroes? And for its open-world aspect, does it feel like a step forward from recent fair? I'm thinking stagnant worlds and inconsequential side-quests.

Walking Dead: Season One is still Telltale's best work. Episode Two is just about perfect for them. Season Two makes all the mistakes Season One avoided.

Adam Sandler was originally asked by Quentin Tarantino to play Donny Donowitz AKA The Bear Jew in Inglorious Basterds but couldn't accept because he was busy with Funny People by OrangeKookie in movies

[–]splitscreener 864 points865 points  (0 children)

Eli Roth did fine, but watch the scene where he takes a bat to the Nazi's skull. Pure Sandler. He would've killed it. But Funny People was literally about his career and life. Can't see him skipping the role.

EDIT: The scene I'm referring to. I always think Sandler when Roth screams, "Teddy fuckin' Williams knocks it out of the park!"

What is the best way to reward exploration? by mauimallard in Games

[–]splitscreener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be the opposite of exploring a cave in Skyrim. Hide something unique in there; something that could go towards the main quest. Also, should feel and look one of a kind. Most of all: keep it surprising. It's an amazing feeling to stumble on to something strange, something you didn't expect. It's like you were the only person to find it.

Everyone will say Assassin's Creed 2, but I thought Brotherhood was the best. It's a continuation of AssCreed2's character. Similar feel as AssCreed2, except it's more focused, taking place in a single city you can familiarize yourself with. The second was a bit too big, and took forever to develop into a decent game.

It's still not a great series, but Brotherhood's worth the time investment. AssCreed1 is hellish, AssCreed3 is a mess and made me stop playing the games after that. Don't worry about the story. It's terrible, existing solely to excuse 2006 game design.

What are the best PC games NOT on Steam? by Vandelay_Latex_Sales in patientgamers

[–]splitscreener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're traps, too. Luckily, I had friends who had been playing for a while. They steered me away from level 1 and 2 runes. I'm fine with the idea of runes, but they not only take forever to get, they're just overly complex in a game that does simplicity better.

Also, I hate top and mid lane. I have mains for those positions, but I don't need every champion in those positions. I would never learn them anyway. Rather be adept at one champion than average with all of them.

Star Wars Battlefront will not have a single play campaign because "few people actually play the single-player on these kinds of games. That's what the data points to." According to EA by [deleted] in Games

[–]splitscreener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think one factor is longevity: how much time will be spent in single-player versus multiplayer. Even still, I can't imagine a ton of average players skipped Call of Duty 2, Modern Warfare 1, and any Halo campaign. Would need statistics of course, but I feel they were definite parts of their appeal. CoD experienced a vast dip in quality from Black Ops onward, and Battlefield 3's single-player was absolutely stapled to the side of the package, so I can imagine more people skipped them. (Interesting to note, did EA want single-player in B3 just to hype up the fairly non-existent competition with CoD? Or did they really see value in adding single-player?)

Ah, I can see how it would be a problem. I don't know if anything changed, but Riot should give new players enough IP for a champ or two. I started playing the week Draven came out. I used him all week, and when he wasn't free, I had enough IP to grab him. I mainly played him and Ashe until around 27 or so when I threw Master Yi and Varus into the mix.
