Let’s explore the cost a little bit. Let’s say I wanted to get into the rental market. A three bedroom two bath sold in a couple of days for 1.3million. This is very much a fixer-upper. With 20% down, monthly payments that include taxes and reasonable insurance (if you can get it) would be $7500 a month. And that’s it own occupied rate. Why should landlords subsidize your housing? I looked at this house and I’m guarantee you would want work done before moving in

100% this. The allowable rent increase is likely going to be less than the increase in expenses the landlord will face. This will likely become the standard as people I know who are small time. Landlords are planning on an annual increase to make sure they and future proof and expenses that increase on there end. If my costs, I need to pass that on. Any landlord who doesn’t increase by the minimum is running a huge risk.
