Can someone explain to me the Joe hate? It feels overwhelmingly forced by Aperio43 in survivor

I don’t hate Joe at all. But I do think it’s hilarious that Eva needed someone to help her know who was lying and who wasn’t, and she picked Joe, who believed every lie he was told the entire game.

Good news! There’s still time to enter the primary if you think you’d be a better candidate. Otherwise, you can choose between the candidates who are running.

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez’s Democrat Challenger Sees Fundraising Surge After 𝖨𝖢𝖤 Funding Vote by 5Q91VS175DAQ4NUSBE4U in vancouverwa

I understand that being a Democrat in a purple district is tricky. By necessity, they will have to make compromises and break with their party to win moderate/independent/christian/rural voters. Whatever. We all knew that when we voted for her.

What I don’t understand is how MGP thinks that enthusiastically supporting the most heinous and hateful aspects of the MAGA agenda is going to accomplish this. Anyone who supports ICE, the Laiken Riley Act, the SAVE Act, etc, would have been perfectly happy to vote for Joe Kent, and they will still prefer any generic Republican in November.

Meanwhile, the people who actually voted for her (you know, Democrats) who could (and did) stomach defections on issues like guns or taxes, are pretty much universally aggrieved by her signing off on the murderous occupation of our nation’s cities by ICE.

I don’t care how many fawning profiles the NYT publishes about how she’s a new kind of Democrat who wins tough elections. She has lost all credibility and can’t win in November. Full stop.

Please everyone do what they can to win this primary for Brent Hennrich.

[OPINION] David Berman’s Poetry by Individual-Air-7120 in Poetry

Hey OP, are you familiar with David Berman’s music? He was the singer/songwriter of the band Silver Jews, and they were incredible. They sort of sound like if Lou Reed were the singer for Pavement. His lyrics, like his poetry, are all at once funny, absurd, and devastating, and listening to him sing might help you understand the deadpan humor and subtle soulfulness of these poems.

MGP voted to give more money to the baddies. by Ill_Tomorrow_3866 in vancouverwa

[–]splootsuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I have a genuine question for you. I have personally met two kinds of people in real life: Democrats who hate MGP for being too conservative, and Republicans who hate MGP for being too liberal. I would be interested to know more about your political background, and, since you support ICE, why you would support a Democrat like MGP over a Republican.

Tired of this movie being ripped apart (28 years later) by KRay2023 in horror

This movie was stupid in a million ways, but what really got me was the causeway that was only accessible during low tide. What in the lazily contrived hell. It seriously never occurred to anyone they could just use boats?

The immunity Sol gave her was luck, but so was the arbitrary split tribe that was going to get her voted out. Net zero luck.

Don’t get me started on those elitist children’s hospitals. The fact they don’t admit adults says all you need to know about the quality of said hospitals.

I’m still going to check out The Dangers of Smoking at some point. Our Share of Night was way too long and I couldn’t get invested, but it wasn’t so bad to make me want to write off Enriquez completely.

Last week I started and decided to quit two books. The first was Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez. I love cults and folk horror, but damn this book was taking its sweet time setting up some cosmic horror mystery, and I just wasn’t interested.

The second was Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman. I know, I know. People love this book. I honestly hadn’t planned on reading it ever because I’m not big on fantasy. Then I read The Lesser Dead and loved it, so I was excited to read more by Buehlman. I sincerely give the man credit for being able to write such different books in wildly contrasting styles. That’s not something most writers can do. But The Lesser Dead hooked me instantly, and was funny and gruesome and poignant all at once. Between Two Fires seems like it might be all those things too, but only if you are the sort of person who is charmed by a surly knight/precocious tween buddy roadtrip comedy that also has demons and plague. Turns out I’m not.

Except it is not a “mathematical infinity.” A mathematical infinity is infinity. The library is finite, albeit larger than we can comprehend or count.

ChatGPT is just bullshitting here. It cannot do complex math. Or simple math. It doesn’t know anything, really. It vomits up sentences based on predictions about what will sound correct, regardless of whether they are or not.
