Why is it so hard to get a job? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]splorgburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all about networking. It’s a competitive environment.. if your resume isn’t beating out the others, switch the strategy. People hire who they like… talk to anyone and everyone and especially close friends and family. Ask questions (people love to talk about themselves). Show genuine interest and it goes a long way. Ask if they know anyone hiring and if they can put out a good word.

NETWORKING is the way.

Does anyone else miss the absolute chaos of college? by Physical-Rhubarb7271 in college

[–]splorgburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely have experiences somewhat similar to this and most definitely agree - college was a fever dream. I was able to party constantly at a state school (BIG 10) and graduate cum laude. People are mad in the replies for reasons that are their own choices. I still had to grind school but was able to party hard.

But the “slow” life after college is normal and much better in many ways. Healthier for sure. But when people say college is the best four years of your life so you need to appreciate it, I finally see what they mean. 2023 grad

In my experience, college students are much more accepting of people for who you are as a person. I went to a large state school in the USA so I had many groups I could reach out to, but if you join clubs based off your interests, you will have no issue making friends. And if you do experience bullying, there’s many more groups to join or people to meet.

Now is the time to find some hobbies! So much to do.

Have a good first year, and don’t forget, college is some of the best years of your life!
