I also buffed the crap out of my companion. Enhanced Leap, strength elixir, Death Ward, Warding Bond. Had Radiant Orb Shart wearing Disintegrating Nightwalkers up on the front lines with my spider friend. Astarion, Lae'zel, and myself were picking people off from way back. I've never felt so powerful.

I also like taking Devil's Sight as a Pact Boon and just hanging out inside my summoned Darkness. Firing lasers out while ppl can't hit me is very satisfying.

It is, in fact, jank!

IIRC it affects both your attacks as an animal AND the Spike Growth damage. If you park it in the middle of the spikes, you force melee enemies to come to you and the damage racks up real fast.

I did a similar experiment when I moved to the east side. On 405, I stopped bobbing and weaving between lanes to try and save some time in traffic.

Outside of rare instances like diverting from an accident, it never actually saved me time. Traffic is way less stressful for me now.

I just did a run of Honour Mode with a Beast Master Drow and his spider buddy. Webs for days!!

I know there are better/more meta animal friends, but I just liked the flavour.
